Yeah sorry, I should have clarified that. The engine tends to drone because it can maintain a constant RPM, which throws a lot of people off. Probably a little weird to hear that during acceleration, which is why some manufacturers added artificial shift points.

You're definitely right about the efficiency, but the major problem to hit the current version is related to driving feel. An engine in the powerband may be great for efficiency, but isn't necessarily what you want on the highway (noise levels go up). Plus when you add in the lack of shift points, its "enthusiast

Inspired by these events, I watched Tommy Boy on the weekend, and you're absolutely right

That brought to mind this great Audi commercial.

Presumably water wings are a standard feature on Russian trucks?

N: Each fire has come under unusual circumstances, like high speed or that giant bar in the road, so I'd say if Ses start to catch fire after Pinto-style slow speed impacts, Musk should look at a recall again. What could they actually recall, though? Add another layer of protection to the already large underbody plate?

You're right there. I suppose VW knows its audience and assumes people buying regular Golfs want transportation and directs the drive-for-fun crowd to the GTI.

I'm very curious to see what kind of customer ends up purchasing the base, base Jetta.

Do you think the Golf is a bigger seller in Europe or North America? My base Golf here in Canada is probably considered boring by many, but I've come to really like it.

I'm in the "should I buy a GTI or Focus ST next" camp. I'm getting really excited about the Mk7 GTI but am a little nervous over what is likely a price increase. Seeing as 170 hp in my Golf has been super fun, I don't really think the extra power over the already powerful GTI will sway me, and instead it will come

Popular Science: You built what?? Love it!

I like how Rob Ford has now become part of the crack pipe lexicon.

That is my dream rig, right there.

I'd like some more info on what makes it "fantastically expensive to produce". It doesn't seem to have the requirement of "UN Tough" like the Landcruiser so surely it's made from a lot of leftovers? Still, I want one of these someday.

I'd love to be able to do this in the future. Find an old 'Cruiser barely or not running and put the money you would have spent on a better one into fixing it and running it forever.

Of all the cars in Dubai's fleet, this is probably the most practical.

Your view on truck ownership is mine. Someday I will own a pickup, but it will be used to buy lumber, haul boats and move furniture but will not be driven as a daily driver.

Going back for a stuck vehicle and rebuilding the diff? You, sir, have earned your Jalop card!
