Negotiations will probably ave to resume before you’ll get any nitty gritty on details, but the broad strokes of what SAG AFTRA want are widely reported: to get paid on time, to increase pay, to address income shortfall now that residuals are not a thing on streaming, and some means to protect humans from AI

Or they could....like...pay the writers and actors?

It’s the kind of right-wing brain rot that gives us Punisher skulls on cop cars.

Willie Nelson and the other outlaw country types would probably have a thing or two to say about siding with cops is all I’m saying.

It’s classic right-wing dog whistle “back to tradition” bullshit, where “tradition” is basically that sliver between 1945 and 1960 where white men were doing great and everyone else wasn’t so “uppity.”

At some point they’ll cancel themselves and we can finally have some goddamn peace and quiet around here.

WTF, why didn’t they just break the driver (or passenger) window and open the door instead of bashing the front windshield and handing the baby through the broken glass??

ICE car took 70 years to finally get to a point were they work fine in extreme temperatures.

From my experience doing several cross country trips in a Tesla, the Superchargers are along heavily traveled highways that are considered the main arteries through states, heavily populated or not. Stick to the highway and you’re fine. I’ve had no issues and rarely have to adjust what my normal route would be for a

Sadly, it doesn’t work like that anymore. The sad fact is that the Fox News/OAN brainrot has reached all levels of Republican politics.  It isn’t even just congresscreeps and senators any more.  You see right wing media talking points coming out of federal judges, even the Supreme Court.

Conservative media now controls

Yep. Put some cash in the pocket of our favorite sorta-Democrat coal goblin and give him a way to truss it up as a win for West Virginia, and that removes a major roadblock in Congress. I’m perfectly ok with cutting checks and pandering to idiots at this point. The planet needs action now.

1. The US average price of a new car is $48k.

I think we all agree that the overwhelming majority of American politicians are in the game strictly for their own financial benefit. So all we have to do is figure out to way to grease politicians pockets and before you know it, we’ll have a fully functioning EV charging network.

We won’t have a choice. The big international companies are shifting to EVs across the other big markets in Asia and Europe, and the economies of scale just don’t make sense to keep on making ICE vehicles for the US market alone. We’ll be like England in the 70s and 80s with its highly idiosyncratic and antiquated

I think this argument distracts from the point of the gas tax in the first place, which isn’t to encourage efficiency but as a way to pay for infrastructure that everyone uses. The idea behind it being a gas tax was that it used to be generally true that heavier cars used more fuel and cause more roadway damage so

We may not like it, but something has to give. Many states rely on the gas tax for roads, bridges, etc. So hybrids and EVs are effectively paying less (or nothing) while weighing the same and putting the same wear and tear on infrastructure. Right now, gas cars are subsidizing efficient vehicles. A per mileage

CCS cars definitely aren’t obsolete. Companies building new fast chargers still have to have CCS plugs on them in order to get federal infrastructure money, so for the forseeable future, chargers are going to have CCS and Tesla plugs.

It's just a circuit and not new dedicated service. Spyware on wheels, look in your pocket at your phone, privacy is a massive issue on everything and we do need to fight back on that front.
