Having played it, it doesn’t really feel dissimilar enough from older systems to distinguish itself. It’s still a crunchy pile of bonuses/penalties to every roll.

I bought and read it. I hadnt read reviews of it at the time, an acquaintance recommended it and the premise sounded interesting. The execution was bad, and I will never take a recommendation from that person again.

Yes, there’s plenty of problematic shit in his books but Cline’s biggest issue is that he’s just a punishingly bad writer. I’m not certain he even understands what writing is, beyond the regurgitation of trivia. Ready Player One was little more than an “I Love the 80s” novelization.

Ready Player Two reads like a fusion between a Wikipedia page and a video game walk-through: It makes copious references but absolutely ensures readers get the joke by having characters share the source of a quote while also making it clear that it’s shameful to not already know this.

It’s like DC is some sort of... wet... soggy ground... where bugs, and rats, and frogs and other such things reside. But... no. That can’t be. It got cleaned up!

In my dreams, I wonder what might happen if a gun went off in an NRA gathering of 100's or 1000's of people who all are carrying guns. The old floor full of mousetraps gif.
