It wasn’t really 0%. They just added the interest you would’ve paid into the MSRP on the vehicle and told you the loan was 0% interest.

But im sure you passed on rebates to to get the 0%. If you amortize it out, im betting 0% is close to what you wouldve had, paying 2.9 or 3.9 using rebates (silverado for instance is $6-$9k) with an option to accelerate payments. With 0% you’re locked in, until the breakeven point of rebates vs 0%.

Point is money is fungible. Whether it’s from the company’s 60% or the employee’s 40%, it still is taken from the profit-sharing 100% pool that is smaller now that he awarded himself $12,000,000.00... in a year where things were less profitable than expected, according to him.

It usually is the pay schedule. So, for example, when a game ships the rev split won’t be even between the publisher and studio. As more units sell, the balance will start to favor the studio more. In the case of certain things, like bonuses for execs, they are often hard-locked and they are first to be paid, taking

If he took $12 million from the company’s 60% that wasn’t earmarked as “bonus for Randy Pitchford”, then yes, it would be.

One can only fucking hope.

I don’t get the math here at all. So the game was more expensive, which would ostensibly affect the profits and require more money to go to the company. But part of the expense (?) on the company side (?) would have been the $12 million to Randy Pitchford, right? Would that $12 million still have been there on the

Oh for sure, I don’t think we should completely remove capitalism. Of course unions are the solution. Otherwise, these lovely companies wouldn’t fight tooth and nail to keep their employees from unionizing.

Get rid of it? No. Leave things as they are? Definitely not.

Edit: capitalism as it is and how these people would

Not a day goes by when I’m not entirely relieved I gave up on trying to be a game developer.

I think many would agree that the lack of a formal union for game devs is the problem.  If you’re advocating for some economic model that completely removes capitalism, I’m not sure if that would be a better solution.

“I AM THE COMPANY!”

When you’re a big fancy executive, you get to call it a “dividend” and it’s totally legal.

The bonus did exist, according to two people with knowledge of what happened, but it came out of the company’s 60%, not the 40% of profits that were meant to go to employees.

Not cool Randy!

To be honest, I spent a lot of time wondering the same thing, but I assumed that the reason would be a lack of business or a government-mandated shutdown. We were down about 50% overall, but it was still worth staying open.

If divorce lawyers was a stock, I’d buy so much of it right now. 9 months from now there will be a baby boom and divorce boom. Possibly all the same people as well.

Well... uh... my wife and I were having some marital issues beforehand and now we’re stuck in the same house together for who-knows-how-long, so... yeah....

Fortunately, they don’t anticipate shipping til next March anyway 😊
