At first I was like:

And therein lies the problem - most people really have no clue how a union works outside of what they’ve been TOLD.

The unions should form the Labor Party and take the Horsey-donk establishment head-on.

The literal worst union > No union

In the same way that you will not overpay for something common and replaceable - you’re not paying craft beer prices for your Keystone I hope, or first class prices for coach tickets - why would you expect a corporation to do the same?

But the biggest unions don’t seem to operate this way anymore. They exist to make barriers to turnover and consequences, and you end up with lingering waste and incompetence especially in public unions.

One could say they extracted every last drop of value from that old equipment before leaving it in place.

It’s actually about 75K a year.

...except when labor wants in on it too.

Fail.  The argument is being shredded.  Do keep up.

Here’s the difference between me and a corporation: Now that I am in the upper middle class, the products I buy are quite different. I don’t drink Keystone Ice anymore and my diet consists of more than Top Ramen.

I would buy organic, if I could afford it.

I pay 80/mo on a 68K salary. It only hits the poor bastards at the bottom (home caregivers, paratransit drivers, etc) because it is a larger piece of their overall pie.

Unions like all organizations are made up of flawed people. Unions have the job of protecting those people from any consequences for those flaws.

Gosh, if only we had a corporate boot on our necks! Then we’d be so busy trying to breathe we would cause like 90% less trouble.

I’LL TAKE MISLEADING ARGUMENTS FOR 500, ALEX.

...a long history of racism, sexism, and religious discrimination...

You mentioned compensation above and I misread it.
