I was so mad when he got it. I used to love visiting, and the glass elevator you can take to the top gives you one of the best views of the city. I have no idea if it’s still operational, but I’d be freaking shocked if it was still free. :-/

Every time one of my so called progressive friends dismisses Trump’s outright racism with “Yeah, but Hillary <insert run of the mill politician problem that cannot compare to the vileness of racism in any form>” a part of my soul dies.
Yay? I guess? The hubby is still downcast about the whole thing because that means no more overtime until December when the whole process repeats again, and even then, no guarantee.
Speaking of December, can I just say how very scared I am of this election, since the government is our lifeline? Mr. Koolaid works for…
I really, really want to believe that my fellow citizens are smart enough to see through this Koch fueled bullshit......but then I get in the self check out line at the grocery store, and all my hope for humanity flies out the window. We might very well be screwed come November.
Nah, if Gaia had her way, it would just make us sterile. There may be too many of us, but making would-be-mamas and little babes suffer isn’t her style.
The mental disconnect is unreal. When fucking Ted Cruz and his cronies shut down the government a few years ago, my cousin (who lives in his district and loooooves him) ranted on FB about how this was all very necessary to stop Obamacare, which would be the DEATH of us all. Four days later, public opinion has firmly…
Well yeah, people like that I get, it’s the broad, cultural appeal that I don’t. In popular culture, he’s almost* always portrayed as a sympathetic figure. In an age where people are finally talking about all the crappy things “great” men did, Thomas More seems to have escaped judgement.
*God bless “Wolf Hall” for…
This is an aside, but I have never understood the love and admiration people have for Thomas More. Oooooh, he refused to sign off on Henry’s new marriage, such religious conviction! He also freaking BURNED PEOPLE AT THE STAKE for minor religious differences. Guy was a straight up murderer, but hey, it’s cool to kill…
*eyeroll* Duly noted by this “high maintenance” lady, who is now looking for a new job after getting verbally harassed by a very hostile and angry male co-worker. Angry man can be angry far, far away from me.
Same here- I went to a Creative and Performing Arts middle and high school, and there was defintely a minimum GPA you had to keep- you had to get A’s on average in your major, and at least C’s in your other classes to keep attending. If your grades started slipping, that’s usually when you were threatened to be cut…
Good for her. One of Kelly Ayotte’s paid staffers was at dinner with us the other night, and it took every. single. bit. of self control for me not to ask her why her boss was being such a chickenshit. I hope this only ups the pressure.
I thought that was a weird line too- the only sense I can make of it is maybe her skininess came off as “strung out-ness” when she talked about her anxiety? Idk.
Preach. My Mom suffered a crappy miscarriage about 4 months in, and she’s completely against this shit. She never viewed it as a child, just a potential one, and all she wanted was for it to be over so she could move on and try again. I think of her having to go through this today, and my blood boils.
Not that it was…
And wouldn’t the title be more accurately translated as “Silent Reserves”? Seems more to the theme with the other translations.
Heh, sorry, I meant Social Security aka dirty socialism, although I take back the spouse bit- she got the benefits all on her own.
I think her gist was that (in her oh so humble opinion) Native Americans weren’t really “using” the land, in that they weren’t cultivating every damn square inch and building factories and what not. So, property ownership with a huge helping of racism was her game.
She also totally collected SS benefits from her…
Much disappoint, especially in Breyer.
Ayn Rand said something similar, that Native Americans were “selfishly keeping all the land for themselves” when white and right people needed it. Die, indeed.
I was more worried about some of the jokes, Macfarlane can be a little......tone deaf, to put it nicely. But I do like Liam Neeson (ok, love Neeson, but so does my Mom, and that makes it weird) and Charlize Theron, so combine that with your recommendation, I’ll give it a try!
