1989. Hwy 99, just south of the Oak Street Bridge in Vancouver. I was 18, had a 17-year-old girlfriend riding along. I was both fortunately and unfortunately driving my dad's '65 Mustang Hi-Pro. Fortunately, because that car was greatness writ large. Unfortunately because I was 18 and driving a really light, fairly

The local vinyl sign shop, here in town does a great business in producing messages for people who decal their cars with hate messages about local car dealerships. Some of them are big and loud "XX Dealership stole my money!" and "This truck sucks, ask me why!", to people who have paragraphs die-cut into small vinyl

But you have to separate "China the State" from "China, one billion people who love their country and it's icons." The Chinese people take their culture, their art, their history and their monuments very seriously. We as westerners cannot comprehend the connection that someone has with a 700 year old temple, or a 1000

Dude, that's a pretty harsh attitude to take. These things mean something to people. Maybe not to you and I but to the people who have built their identity around these cultural icons, they're important.

So, I'll just come down to New York and take a piss on, and then graffiti the Statue of Liberty then? And you'll just get over it?

Also,

Dear Koji-dude.

Thanks for the info.

Yes. But. It is entirely possible to become "becalmed" in a sailboat. If you haven't got wind, you're drifting to wherever the currents want to take you. And that sucks.

Really? Well, I stand corrected. I'm still not eating it.

Don't think I can, given that I'm not an American. Can you sue someone from another country (or even another state)?

So, I get the rage expressed below, on both sides of the coin. The US economy sucks and there are now 650 more people out of work.

There is. It's this. This is Chicken McNuggets before getting pressed or formed or whatever happens to them.

In a better world, that would have happened. However, we now make a point of not flying United. Even better, whenever we do fly somewhere, we send United Customer Service a "reminder note" of this event and copies of our receipts for the current flight so they can see us supporting another airline, instead of theirs.

Snow clearing, exactly. I'm thinking the heat would peal paint from the road though.

I'm thinking they have equipment that can probably do a faster job.

Sort of. It looks like the kind of thing that car clubs set up to keep people from street-racing. I wouldn't call it cheap-ass wannabes so much as pro-active road safety.

This isn't an NHRA sanctioned event. They're racing under their own KOTS (King of the Streets) club rules. According to those, the silver Mustang isn't disqualified and he wins.

Skip to 2:24. The guy in the orange shirt says that according to the KOTS rules, if you cross behind the lead car, you're safe. This isn't an NHRA event so, the silver Mustang wins.
