My first mod was using drill batteries. Definitely an easy way to get started

I’ve never really heard of high revving causing more frequent carb problems. The carb doesn’t care, it just flows more fuel.

I... haven’t really heard of that? Cleaning sure, which I guess can involve a disassembly/reassembly process. But that’s more if you’re not using them often and they’re getting gummed up with old fuel.

Cost - the carbys don’t require an ECU swap or dyno tuning!

You can! ITBs tend to get bought and sold a lot here as people get halfway through the project and give up.

Yeah, tuning and money.
This carb and mani set up were already tuned for a Miata and cost less than $1500 AUD second hand.

ITBs would have been similar for the throttle bodies themselves, and maybe even a mani, but then you need an ECU ($500-1500) and tuning on a dyno ($500+), plus some sort of TPS or MAP solution as

$1000 for a E46 of any kind in Australia would be dope. A $1000 M3 is... like... why haven’t you bought it yet?

Is it the case where it needs something like $20,000 of transmission/engine work, or?

I guess that would stop me buying one too. But if it’s a runner...

So I’ve actually got an original stereo ready to sub in, but I’m gonna need to rewire everything because it’s been butchered by previous owners. Keen, though.

Thanks! I’ve got a Cars playlist which should have all the meaty bits you’re interested in :)

That doesn’t look too bad in your application! I had a FUSION unit in my Feroza which was similarly discreet and I didn’t hate it too much.

It also had that horrible encoder problem though. Give me buttons, or, ideally, a proper analog knob. WAY better.
