That joke isn’t “uncomfortable”; it’s racist.
As a Latina, I’m offended by the joke.
I agree that he doesn’t need to apologize publicly.
He doesn’t owe me an apology, and I don’t owe him the benefit of the doubt.
I know he doesn’t have to publicly apologize, and that he could have already apologized privately. It’s not like it the public’s “forgiveness” even matters. We’re not the ones he abused.
How does he seem like a good person? Because he’s in all our favorite shows and he’s handsome and he’s friends with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler? I think Jon Hamm is funny and charming, but I can’t recall anything he’s done that’s made me think, “What a standup guy.”
Um guys I came here hoping for more outrage about the Jon Hamm thing. Pls oblige. Thx.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say “minstrel show,” but I hate that she plays into the oversexed, fiery Latina stereotype. It disgusts me, and my friends think I take everything too seriously because I criticize Modern Family (which isn’t even that funny in the first place!) for it. Also, LOL at “but less subtle.”
UGH yes, I listen to “Depreston” over and over like I did when I was a teenager obsessed with “Say Yes” by Elliott Smith!
I’m 34 and can barely recall being 17. I know I dated a really popular handsome kid at school and skipped class several times per week to go to the beach.
You're citing that as if it's fact. It's a blind item, and it's a really gross one at that. A colleague's death could have a devastating effect on someone regardless of how close they were outside of work, and that writer is irresponsible to suggest that her grief isn't valid because their relationship didn't meet his…
I'm not sure if I'm down with dictating how someone's grief should look
I'm getting periwinkle and gold. I cannot, for the life of me, see the blue and black.
omg how did I miss that? Thank you!
and also there's some Latina stereotyping/fetishization going on
I love that Kanye West, Artiste, never falters from his public declarations of support for Kim Kardashian. I would have thought he'd cowtow at least a little to peer pressure from the fashion crowd, but he doesn't. It seems like he loves her so much and that's adorable.
Madeleine, don't you know? Tom DeLonge is no longer Blink-182's Tom DeLonge. Mark and Travis kicked him out! It was all over the pop culture news weeks ago because apparently no one is sufficiently embarrassed that they kinda still care about Blink-182.
I know, right? Anyway, I thought the standard "Kanye isn't really in love with Kim" narrative was that he's gay and dating that fashion designer and she's just his dress-up doll. Now he's straight and actually in love with Bey, I guess? I can't keep up with this nonsense
Uggghhhh. Or maybe Beyoncé is his friend and colleague whom he respects very much? Why does it have to be that he wants to fuck her or is in love with her or whatever?
