Essential doesn’t mean skilled. They’ll be summarily fired and replaced hopefully.

We do value the jobs because they need to be done for everything to function properly. We don’t value the people because their skill isn’t unique or special. Strikes only work if the workers aren’t easily replaced. The problem with that is, most people are easily replaced. That goes for people bagging groceries to…
How dare these companies continue to provide essential services!
I think they all should just quit and start their own companies.
I work at Walmart for the past 10 years. The pay is fair. We are getting bonus pay now for working so please IGNORE this persons request to boycott. Per square footage, Walmart hires a lot of staff. Many that would be unemployable elsewhere. You cause more damage to people like me. This is Union driven event. I use to…
Um no, I will not be “avoiding” these businesses. There are mechanisms to deal with a business who is not keeping you safe like OSHA. They’re also essential workers, and unfortunately being an essential worker means you may have to take on some additional risk than if you just stayed home all day. On the flip side,…
I was there yesterday, too, and my experience was the same as yours. It’s the first time I shopped in person in many weeks. We were nearby for a medical appointment and since the nearest store is an hour from home, we decided to go by and stock up on some favorites. No sanitizer, but we did get toilet paper.
David, you said you wanted feedback on the format. I clicked to page 2, then went up to the URL bar and put in 9 just to get here to make the comment that IT SUCKS and this site is going to see a LOT of lifelong commenter turnover if it sticks around. Sorry to shoot the messenger but hopefully someone reads this and…
I think this only applies to birth certificates/lineage. I don’t know UK law but in the US the birth parent is always on the birth certificate, and there’s the adoption certificate is the paper trail that “adds to” that, making the adoptive parent the legal parent.

I remember an episode of A Chef’s Life where Vivian Howard was using a mandoline without the guard and says not to do what she’s doing, then sure enough she cuts herself. And she’s a chef.
She just kept saying, “you don’t understand”. Which is true, in fairness.
Older Bassbeast Jr. turned 10 today. We celebrated by giving him presents a little bit bigger than we would normally, went on a three-hour walk on quiet side streets catching Pokemon with Younger Bassbeast Jr. Came home, and had a brief visit with my 75-year old father who, through various travel circumstances, we…
My dog thought that having his humans home 24/7 was the best thing, but now he things it’s the best thing, with caveats. We’re really interrupting his napping schedule by being home between 7am and 11am, his prime, deep napping time.
it recommends cats remain indoors.
Since the cups were washed, I honestly can’t even be mad. That’s a smart grift to run as long as you don’t get caught.
Back when Nick Denton was the man running the show, he conceived the burner system for this exact purpose. People can create Kinja accounts using no personal information to leak information anonymously.
If they are supergluing vans together...i assume their “legal” department is of similar high standing
Not to be ‘that guy’ - but people should be careful about any ongoing contractual obligations they might have to a previous employer. Even where they’ve been laid off. I’m not much of an internet-law guy - but I imagine it would be possible to compel production of personal information used to register and post from…
