It depends on the company, but you'd be surprised. I will usually wear slacks and a blazer for important business meetings, but conferences are not business meetings.

It's pretty awful, but yes, I think that's it. Of course it's not all men in tech! Most are totally awesome and sweet and funny and respectful. But the amount of terrible comments we get are stupidly high.

It's a good life. But be yourself!

Maybe. There's a pretty intense sense of sisterhood in the tech community though. Not like Traveling Pants, but more like communal eye rolling with all the bullshit.

I definitely do have a uniform. I've been wearing the same types of clothes since high school. It's just the style that I'm comfortable with. I'm not saying that dresses and high heels are bad. I just think it's stupid that people expect others to dress a certain way for their viewing pleasure. It happens to guys too.

That's awesome. Some people really luck out in being able to dress however they want. I've had corporate jobs with dress codes before and it reminded me of middle school. I was miserable. I'm definitely in the "do your job, work really hard, wear whatever the fuck you want" crowd.

Also, thanks!! I'm starting to work on a project to get funding for getting young women into tech and engineering programs.

Tech rules. The industry needs a lot of work, but I have high hopes.

I like them. I think they look cool.

Yeah, I just don't really like wearing dresses.

Sadly, they are all the same. I'm not in the gaming field (anymore), but crimoneyfuck, it's really the same kind of situation for women at all of these events. It's very, very sad.

I'll give a few hints. We work with biometrics, we're super into privacy and we're launching our first product in a few months.

I'm not taking that fucking money! They can shove it up their ass, burn it or put it in trusts for their potentially shitty kids. They're not touching my company.

Honestly, I didn't think they ever had a model. I thought they were just a makeup brand for my grandma. The only ads I've seen for them just showed makeup. No person.

My business partner is so fucking cool. I'm a tool. Together, we rule the nerd school.

Exactly. I't super fucked up. And some of the men who have said terrible comments about how we look have actually tried to invest in our company. SORRY, NOPE, PAL.

Oh my god. The coldness of that is rather chilling.

My business partner and I are in the tech industry (we're both founders and are women). We'll go to the huge conferences and all the other women (maybe 10% of the attendees) will be wearing super nice dresses and shoes. We don't own clothes like that, so we'll show up in collared shirts, black jeans, leather jackets,

Yeah, I don't think he "simply" tried to show the double standard. I think he went well out of his way to provide some insight to people who are naysayers or who just don't get it.

HOLY SHIT.
