Fair disclosure: I’m not white. I’m Jewish. And according to the incoming administration and its supporters, us Jews aren’t white.

This doesn’t make sense. So girls are what, 51% of the population? But the laws and practices “diproportionatelly” affect them? I mean on its face the statement is true, but if the meaning is that girls are being unfairly targeted, then the numbers do not back that up. Unless we are saying that like 50% of all…
But it’s unfair to expect that women all know that they have to compare and then have to spend the time to compare all the products.
The “caveat emptor” argument doesn’t work when always and only women and minorities are targeted for unnecessary price hikes.
This is not the point. The point is that there shouldn’t be a women’s version and a male version, especially when the female version is more expensive. It’s about principles. But nice of you for insinuating women are dumb.
yes, that’s what male privilege looks like: when you have no idea something happens and have never had to think about it before or be aware of it because it doesn’t happen to you.
Or we’re married to men who use the blue razors and we want the same tier of product in a different color (don’t want to confuse the razors!) and don’t even bother reading the price tag, because how could the same product justifiably be priced differently based on color?
Buying the men’s version is the practical solution, yes. But it’s the principle of the thing.
Being pro forced birth is by definition “controlling women”. There’s a woman attached to the fetus who is being forced by the government to carry a child for 9 months and then forced to give birth against her will. It’s a dystopian nightmare. And don’t get me started on the history of reproductive rights and how…
Do you really walk on eggshells? Do you really think that a country that just elected a man who called illegal immigrants rapists and got cheered wildly for it, who got sued twice for discrimination against black people, who said ON THE RECORD that all black people are lazy, who was caught on tape bragging about…
“Anyone who likes guns is an inbred redneck. Anyone who doesn’t think government has all the answers is a libertarian techbro Peter Thiel wannabe.”
That’s more a product of social media conflating small things than it is “liberalism” imo.
“Other times, aunt Edina is just woefully uninformed, may not realize her words are extremely sterotypical and, in many cases, hurtful. If truly wishing to engage in discussion with my theoretically aunt, calling her words “racist” may not be the best approach.
What was the argument about?
A lot of women don’t know about it. I told my mom last year and she was SHOCKED. The men’s and women’s razors are in different aisles in Target, and she never thought to go into the men’s aisle and check the price.
Basically, they’re taking advantage of women who assume that no one would be so shitty as to charge women…
I think the problem is that people interpret “What you said was racist” as being “attack mode.” That’s bullshit tone policing. It’s a tactic used by people who don’t want to accept criticism for being sexist or racist or whatever. Instead of addressing the substance of the criticism and engaging in meaningful…
Yup. A lot of people I know who rail aainst being PC are just as likely to get on me for being “rude” (usually for not letting them be jerks).
Eh, I think it’s more the general policing of women’s behavior- “you like pink,” “you love babies and want more,” “you love planning a wedding.” I don’t think it’s just stupid women who are buying into this but women who don’t like to rock the boat and I’d say the majority of human beings are this way.
1) Donald Trump is a blatant, longtime racist and misogynist. I don’t think the idea that if you voted for him you are a racist and/or misogynist is far off. I wouldn’t phrase it that way myself - I would say that, at the least, anyone who voted for him is at least OKAY with racism and misogyny. And at this point,…
A lot of times the reasons people brush off accusations racism/sexism/whatever is because people don’t think they could be racist or sexist or whatever, and refuse to even entertain the possibility - it’s a lack of self-reflection, not a lack of actual validity in the accusation.
