Most turbo cars have some heat soak issues under long periods of hard driving and a friend of mine with a mazdaspeed3 (very similar if not identical motor, even says ford on the block according to him) has heat soak issues.

For all of 2-3 laps before it was heat soaked and started retarding timing.

Wikipedia is based on edits from any old idiot, I’m not surprised that it defines a rat rod by what has become vernacular instead of the old hot rodder slang. I’m not an old but all the hot rodders I know are and they are very particular about a mouse vs a rat.

Second time this week a Jalopnik author demonstrated a lack of knowledge on just what a “rat rod” is.

You’re right for the wrong reasons. A “rat” rod has a big block motor while a “mouse” rod has a small-block.

False. Traditionally “rat” rods have big-blocks and “mouse” rods have small-blocks.

In regard to (B), no it can’t. The NA 2JZ-GE has very little in common internally with the 2JZ-GTE.

Blocks have very little to do with how a motor can hold boost, the internals of the 2JZ-GE are nowhere as strong as the GTE’s and the compression ratio isn’t suited to streetable performance with a turbo.

The SC400 with the 1UZ-FE made 290-300hp although they were all automatics AFAIK.

A shell for $400? A buddy of mine got a (rough) running auto SC300 for $700 that only needed a passenger door card, and brakes + suspension all around.

That’s false. A well paired smaller turbo that spools down low isn’t peaky at all and actually follows the inverse of a high revving NA motors powerband.

BS on a turbo boxer motor making less than 217 ft/lbs @ 4000. Turbo motors can add more power cheaper and with a properly sized turbo running a decent amount of boost won’t lag.

Needs a turbo-4.

I just laughed uncomfortably.

Potential COTD here folks.

Hellcat has a 2.26 (or something like that) compared to the 3.x the SS probably has to make up for it’s power deficit against the SRT 392's.

Best R34 goes for Gold

I’m not sure how streetable a 1800hp Lambo running 10:1+ compression with at least 1bar of boost actually is.

They exist. Check YouTube.

I personally don’t find a 7 second 1/4 mile with 1800hp very impressive. The same model and engine I use for a daily driver has run a 8.x in the 1/4 @ ~130s with 4 less cylinders and less than 1/2 the HP (7-800).
