Yup that’s good to know. I’ll be looking for a project car in the next year or so and may consider CL to sell my current car if a paywall seems to keep away the worst bits of CL

I know there are spiritual successors, but F-Zero is another (similar) franchise that needs a reboot

I didn’t even realize that anything cool was still being posted to CL now that they charge.

One of my favorite channels before I bought a motorcycle was Ducati NYC Vlog. I’d ride vicariously through him whenever my  bike was on stands.

It isn’t too bad in certain industries. The issue is that many industries have people doing similar work. A software developer for medical company and a software developer at and indie game studio have very different demands in my experience. I imagine it might be similar for other types of work too

I’m finding that smaller companies is definitely the way to go. My very first job was sort of walking the line between hardware and software, and was maybe 200 employees. Great job but they couldn’t pay me software wages so I left. The worst job I had was at a gigantic company. I did less than nothing, and was bored

If we include company/federal holidays, Christmas-NYE, and summer Fridays, yeah. I can’t take parental leave since I’m not an expecting parent, but the rest of the days we get off add up to somewhere between 2-3 months

I think trying to tie everyone in the building under 1 union is not the way to go. Teachers and janitors aren’t in the same union, for example, yet they both are represented. If managers want benefits, they could unionize too /shrug

I’d argue that my workplace doesn’t strictly “need” a union either. I have something like 30 days PTO, sick time, and parental leave each, I’m VERY happy with my pay, but we have subpar healthcare (for what we pay) and are just getting around to 401k match. What can’t be guaranteed, however, is that the pay that I’m

I mean I’m lucky enough to have such a job. I’m actually pretty cushy at my job, but wouldn’t it be great if there was some way to ensure everyone across an industry had access to the same benefits? FYGM is not really what I’m into

With you 100%. Just not sure how to get there. I’d love if I had a union. I am where I am today because I was raised in a family supported by a fairly robust union (TWU)

The comment you’re responding to illustrates my point perfectly. A lot of white collar adjacent jobs think they don’t need a union because of their high wages. What they don’t realize is that there are benefits other than wages that can be negotiated, or given to all employees that a union provides. Imagine if you got

In my estimation, a lot of people who disagree don’t see themselves as “workers”. White collar (and tech) jobs and management see themselves - sometimes correctly - as petite bourgeois and “above” what a union provides because of their wages. I don’t have a solution, though

I was lucky enough to see 4 at once at an Audi meet. I actually don’t like it as much as I thought I would.

I demand pictures/video

My west coast car has survived its first (and only ever) winter being street parked. I put off changing the oil and PS belt because I didn’t want to lay in the snow but now I have a driveway so it’s not so terrible to plan maintenance. On top of all that I need to fix some cosmetic stuff that was damaged by

making health bars fat while making me 1shot-able has always felt like a cheap way of increasing difficulty.

I’m with you on this. The last game I played through on the hardest difficulty was Dead Space 2. Work started actually presenting challenges, so playing games was a way to unwind. A few of my friends are still into the whole “gotta grind to get x weapon/armor” or doing raids for 4 hours and I stopped playing with them

The irony of your last sentence must be completely lost on you.

Law of large numbers dictate that you’re right. However it seemed like he was nervous about being the victim of some sort hate crime specifically. I suppose in a city it’s still more likely, but reading about a white dude being nervous about hate crimes is sort of eye-roll inducing
