Voter turnout is always low in places where people are generally oppressed and having a hard time with life.

Just because we Latino Sanders supporters understand why other Latinos support Hillary doesn’t mean we think y’all aren’t misguided, though.

Why do you assume only white people are commenting on this post against Hillary? So baffling.

Hillary’s response is actually something people need to take seriously. She may not have said it in a good tone, but she has a point. One of the best ways to get a more diverse political presence is for people to get out there and run for office. It at least gives voters the opportunity to vote for someone other than

There is a Black establishment, largely driven by church leaders and the like, and they do a wonderful job of turning out voters for preferred candidates. The Clinton’s have a natural advantage with the Black establishment and Hillary knows how to tap into it. For what it is worth, I am a 39 year old black guy, and

It’s ridiculously hard to get into politics as a grassroots campaign because of the big money involved here. That’s why it’s cool when Deray launched his campaign to be mayor of Baltimore like this but it helped so much that he has a recognizable name and the blue vest helps a lot. I remember an upstart Dem trying to

Sweetie is the one that really bothers me. Like, unless its my Mom it feels condescending.

I think it’s awesome that you are voting against your own interests and don’t even care!

Especially towards a woman of color.

A friend from the south actually had to explain that one to me, its not a phrase we use in my area so the whole thing went over my head

I agree - it’s the equivalent to a “bless your heart” in a lot of instances.

I’m baffled by this myself. My GF says its because way too many of ‘us’ aren’t doing our homework and voting solely on name recognition and who our pastor says to vote for. I don’t totally disagree.

When an affectionate term like dear is used by a stranger/person in a position of power it always comes off as super condescending to me.

Sanders does okay with black intellectuals and activists, lower income and young black voters, but the Clintons have been locking up the black establishment, and she is unreachable when it comes to wealthy older black voters.

She does well with OLDER African Americans, ie the over 45 crowd. I assume many of the younger folks are voting Sanders but more older people are actually voting. If I can find a statistics based on average age of voters I’ll post it.

The Clintons made their entry into politics via courting black southerners...they know how to pander to them.

It's because Democrats take us for granted. They have the most stake in us, the ones with the most to lose by losing us and the ones most likely to listen, but they don't always do anything because they take the black vote as a given. Interrupting is a way of asserting their worth to people who SHOULD be listening but

If you really believe that the Democrats have any more desire to help black people than Republicans do - beyond paying lip service to black issues during elections - than I strongly suggest that you familiarize yourself with some of the excellent pieces written at Black Agenda Report (BAR; blackagendareport.com).

It’s called asset mapping. Often, the people who most need to hear your message are the ones least willing to listen. Why not go after someone who you’re more likely to turn into an ally who can help you go after the ones that need to hear the message?n
