This is the only comment necessary. They were convicted of assault because they didn’t spank her, they assaulted her. If they had just spanked her, she wouldn’t have shown up at school the next day with bruises and fucking cuts.
Yeah, that sounds more like a beating.
spanked their 14-year-old daughter with a hockey stick and a jump rope
Makes you wish every candidate would at least attempt to do the same. They all have their own “bros” when it comes to social media.

Since when is Javier Bardem a person of color? If a Spaniard qualifies, how about an Italian, like Rudy Guiliani?
You are making all the sense. I would add the caveot that even seemingly “white” settings weren’t really that white because there are always people of color everywhere — whether in Hollywood or advertising or the White House. Look at The Butler. Someone could say “there weren’t black politicians so there are no black…
I commented EXTENSIVELY on tha Hail Ceasar article because this logic makes no sense to me. People of color weren’t all kept in a bunker until 1965. They worked in Hollywood as entertainers, costume designers, set builders, musicians etc and could have been incorporated into Hail Ceaser as is. I agree that different…
Pretty simple solution in theory: more executives of color = more competence in identifying narratives and stories that involve people of color that will resonate with audiences = more movies made telling those stories = more good roles for actors of color.
Javier Bardem is white. He might have some Moorish blood as many Spaniards have from that seven hundred year domination, but yeah, he’s white. Not a person of color. And Oscar Issacs is mostly Cac-Euro so he’s not really a person of color either.
How are Oscar Isaacs and Javier Barden not white guys?
I wouldn’t count Oscar Isaac or Javier Bardem as diversity hires since they’re still white European men . It’s not like the Cohen brothers hired mixed race Hispanics.
That was another one I’d like to have seen fleshed out more. They mentioned her having a family and living someplace but they didn’t go there. Same with Carla and Hollis.
We imagined the Great Migration.
It’s made more frustrating when you see a show come upon a better diverse tale within the Mad Men excuse. Season 4 of Boardwalk Empire actually had a much more fascinating story going on with the conflict between Chalky White and Dr. Narcisse since it was portraying an era of black culture that we’ve never really seen…
Well, as you know, black people weren’t born until Rosa Parks and they were all in the South. So.
