All the stars. A perfect, reasoned post and so much more than jpeay deserves in patience and politeness. Thanks.

you conveniently keep saying “her”...

In summary: girls must change how they dress to avoid falling victim to the male gaze.

Boom.

Off topic, but after reading this article I especially need to rant. I was just arguing with my male housemate last night on the double standards of society regarding sex, especially on how women are considered whores, but men are praised for their sexual conquests. He refused to see any problem with the concept of a

awww, does it hurt that i won’t engage with you genuinely when you so obviously made a genuine effort to reach out and connect? do you feel disenfranchised? if only i cared. :(

Beautifully stated.

Completely. They also have to turn the conversation around so they’re the center of attention. They are this guy:

“Liberal men” who cry “#NotAllMen” at the drop of a trilby-called-”fedora” aren’t helping anything. They’re acting as agents of the status quo MRAs proudly and gleefully fight for.

I think Alan Moore has said something similar about how horrified he is at all the guys who come up to tell him that they really identified with Rorschach.

If they agree to a blowjob for $5 (‘cause they ain’t getting 50), because the alternative is a beating they won’t forget, is it not rape?

Yes, they are. When people who are food-insecure, water-insecure, shelter-insecure, or medical-care-insecure are given material/financial aid (additional or not) on the condition that they perform sex acts, that’s coercion.

There isn’t a way to make this less horrible. Trying to make something like rape sound less bad, doesn’t make it better.
