I once went home with a guy after a party in a similar situation. When I went to go use the bathroom, he had to hand me a roll of toilet paper to bring with me, because he was in a standoff with his roommates about it.

This is a very bad take. Grownups need to manage their spaces, especially if they are shared, just like they manage other adult tasks (paying taxes, car maintenance, etc.). We don’t have bosses dolling out tasks and timelines for these other example chores, they are just part of adulthood. There is nothing magical

The point is not having to ask. If I have to ask you to deal with the giant, growing pile of dishes, then I have become your mother. An adult human should look at that pile of dishes they contributed to and go ‘well, fuck, we need to do the dishes’ AND DO THEM.

I would make the argument that, if the dishes are piling up like this to the point where anyone with working eyes see they obviously need to be cleaned, then yes, she shouldn’t have to ask.

I had friends who were movers and their #1 beef with the job was people who aren’t packed when they arrive.

Mine scheduled a move during my hardest and busiest work period (as in only home to take a shower and collapse into bed) and when I protested the timing he said he would pack everything. He conveniently was tied up at work when the movers arrived. I found he only packed half the apartment and also folded all the tops

This was my misery when I was married. My ex had endless tolerance for clutter and dirt and never did a lick of housework. (I also did all the cooking.) I tried everything, even leaving money on the floor, and it would just stay there until I picked it up. It was one of many, many reasons I’m very happy to be single

I feel this woman to the depth of my bones.

One extra bootstrap for you! I know, I spoil you, I’m too softhearted.

It’s been discussed ad infinitum everywhere else, but I feel like it’s worth mentioning that the reason that Texas is undergoing blackouts is because it has a separate electrical grid from the rest of the United States. Moreover, the reason it has a separate grid is because they didn’t want to follow Federal

It’s the mindset that tries to characterize the Social Security system people pay into as a welfare scam, even though it’s cool your grandparents get a check every month.

Here’s a lil hilarity in the midst of the shit. See that pic up there and the dude in the yellow sweatshirt (yes I know, the B-squad Village Person really draws the eyes but go with me). See his cool lil hand tattoo?

As someone from Boston, the snark about the South is among the highest of hypocrisies, especially considering the low-key (or not so low-key) racist attitudes of some people from here.

Senior year of high school. I was working washing dishes at a restaurant that closed at 11:00, so by the time I got home, took a quick shower, got dressed and got to the party, it was almost 11:30. I figured I had some catching up to do and the couple beers I chugged upon arrival didn’t seem to be doing the trick so,

Its the new years eve two weeks before my 21st birthday and this kid we knew from high school was having a NYE party at his dads bar in Chicago. We buy a handle of whiskey between the three of us and some bottles of champagne.

New year 1992 into ‘93, a student’s union party that a group of us student RNs had scored tickets to, and perhaps more importantly, a free coach ride there and back from. Much drinking and dancing ensued, and unknown to 21year old Springboard, a girl had taken a fancy to me. A girl who decided to take the slow dance

NYE used to be my favorite holiday - we spend it with friends doing a sort of small-dish cook-off, there is a lot of drinking, we go outside at midnight and druknenly sing - and it’s a beautiful way to ring in the new year. Someone always goes too wild, but whatever we’re among friends!

Last year was “sloppy” though -
