It’s way more than Madison and the Mars Cheese Castle.

I grew up there, and the backsliding that’s taken place makes me so sad. Wisconsin is so wonderful and under-rated in so many ways, but it’s really starting to scare me.
I grew up about 5 minutes from the park where this happened. And, yeah, I’ve been shocked by the prevalent attitude of “Lock ‘em up, throw away the key. And lock up the parents, too. MY kids would never do this.”
Your responses to this post are making me wonder how many women you currently have locked in your basement.
I wouldn’t say I was willing, but just thought this person was going to help me “walk though” a troubling memory.
I also thought it was fake. And then I had it done to me (long story, I was safe, but I had no idea what had happened until I lost about 2 hours). It’s some crazy stuff!
I’ve been wearing mascara to work since the new year, too. And a strong red lip. It’s funny how much more optimistic it makes me.
Lady Stoneheart?
I basically had a guy say what amounted to these lyrics at a dance party recently.
Yep. Grew up up there too, lived a bunch of other places, and the upper-midwest has it’s own strong flavor of racism. So many stories. Gods bless my non-white husband for visiting my family up there and putting up with so much. SO, so much.
So fitting! Did you post this gif after the Orlando nightclub shooting too?
I ... totally agree. Team Logan.
Like, there are so many weird, woo-woo college courses/seminars/retreats/clubs. That’s what college IS. This course did not strike me as super “out there.”
I grew up in Wisconsin and eventually settled in TX, thinking, “OK my liberal voting presence is needed more in TX. Wisconsin will be fine.”
Keep in mind, these are the same people that mock the concept of triggering and safe spaces. The people that go on television and break down in tears over “No, the white guy right there.” They mock triggering and safe spaces.
Seriously. Call a white person a “racist” and watch them lose their shit. You can call them “peckerwood,” “honky,” and “cracker” all day long and get nothing but a shit-eating grin. But call a white person “racist” and you’d think they were burning down Tara all over again.
Funny thing is that I’m sure none of these idiots has ever seen a trans person...or realized it anyway.
In my experience (with many Catholic relatives), the main reason is that most weddings are on Saturdays, and Saturday Mass is usually in the evening. Say Saturday Mass is at 5 pm. They need to get set up, clear stuff out from the days weddings, etc. So, generally that means no weddings after 3pm. Lutheran churches…
I’m with you on the spouses-of-the-wedding party thing.
They come out every 9/11, too. Like, OK, yeah, I roll my eyes at the people posting the pictures of the crying eagles, too. But I don’t write lengthy, navel-gazey posts about how people shouldn’t post the crying-eagle photos. Also, the irony of people writing 500-word posts about something they don’t want other people…
