I hate to dissent with the tastes of Cobain and Zappa (and Carla Bley, and NRBQ's Terry Adams…), but it's always been impossible for me to parse out the art of the Shaggs' music from the audible fact that the Wiggin girls are clearly mortified to be playing it. I considered going to that TCM double feature a while back, but decided against it because I don't particularly like the Browning version and because I had no idea how the audience would react to it. Glad/sad that I made the right decision.

The Shining: First time watching it, although I had read the book a decade ago. Brilliant enough that I know I didn't get everything this go around, but there is something that hit me from minute one and kept building until the end.
