This, I’ve almost been t-boned so many times because its 6 am, I’m sitting at the entrance to my neighborhood and some idiot is driving a black car with no lights on and doesn’t have drls either, especially when daylight savings happens.

I live out in the country. Everyone drives a truck or SUV. The bigger issue here is super bright LED and HID headlights, which incidentally, my stock ride height truck does not have. 

Personally I can remember when there is no such thing as daytime headlights and it was a far better world. They are glare drowns out all kinds of optical information that I used to rely on. But there is no law so maybe I’m off topic here. You can build and sell a car without DRL's  (YAY!)

You've got that right. I'm coming headlights are way brighter when I'm in my Miata rather than in my RAV4.

Most of the ones I’ve seen have full-on headlights, and the instrument cluster is all lit up. Literally, they would have no idea their tail lights aren’t on without walking around the car. I don’t necessarily blame the driver, especially if *their* car doesn’t behave like that, and they’re in an unfamiliar rental…

DRLs are absolutely pointless. Mandatory headlights on at all times.

This! A million times, this! How about not having lit dashboards when the headlights are off too while they are at it. GM does auto lights the best. When you turn off auto lights, you also turn off DRLs, therefore no GM product today has this “Drive with DRLs only” at night crap.

There are in at least some states, Missouri for one. I see signs for it on I-270 all the time.
