I’ll whine if BMW doesn’t go ahead and do the same with the Z4.

Exactly.

Ordering a car you have never driven is in line with another rule I have, which is to never buy a new car in its 1 year of production.

Woah! Check out that four-by-four!

Magic wall pixies is about right. I still think we are starting at the last step rather than the first when it comes to moving away from ICE. But it sounds like you have a good plan. Gotta leave room for some fun, and the Miata is a god place to start.

I had a 1st gen Tundra extended cab prior to the F-150. Loved it except for the fuel economy and the rear seat room. Should have kept it but I got the new (to me) truck itch a few years ago. Can’t complain. I have done more truck stuff with the Ford, but that was more due to need at the time.  An Alpha wagon would be

My F-150's rear seat folds up to open up a large area for stuff. Big screen TV? Check. Large dogs? Check. Don’t think I could fit a washer or dryer as they would be too wide, but I love the room. I realize an F-150 is a bit larger than a Tacoma, but yours will outlive mine. Probably worth more too lol.

For me the crew cabs are just too useful to pass up on. I like that look better too.

I know Hyundai has it set up so your headlights automatically turn off if you turn the car off - though there is a delay, possibly to light the way when you're taking groceries in.

This might make more sense as LEDs become standard, but the run times on some high-performance halogens are so low that always-on would get expensive in a hurry.

Here’s an idea - stop with this DRL BS and just use the freaking low beam lights and taillights that are already there are the DRL. Car in drive? lights are on. End of story.

What I truly do not understand, is that motorcycles have been required to have an always on headlight and taillight for DECADES, specifically for visibility and safety, yet, other vehicles have not been required to do so. I get the half-assed measure or DRLs, but headlights are so much more visible and cause no

Now if only their lights could be activated automatically with the wipers, as well. The number of cars I run up on through heavy rain/mist/fog/snow without their taillights on is staggering. If we can’t agree to have rear foglights and use them correctly, we should at least get headlights/taillights on.

There’s an xkcd for that ( https://m.xkcd.com/2347/ )

People still actively back up their cars???

Yeah...overall this whole situation is people actively working to turn themselves in to ants in an ant colony. I get it: it’s great for non-car-people to be remove themselves from driving, but the problem I have with it is the ‘intellectual’ idiots also are always total fascists, sadists and totalitarians. Just like

We’re not openly hostile, but we do get tired of the Christian bullshit after a while.

I’m glad to see more and more articles related to atheists or the non-religious on this site.

Once you pay off a car start putting the car payment amount into a mutual fund. You are saving without changing what you spend. Watching that money grow can help you fight off I need a new car syndrome, the car is probably still reliable, and the heaviest depreciation has already happened.
