I’ve said the same thing multiple times on this website.  I completely agree that automakers should start to utilize some of the older designs that represent their brand so well. The exterior design is there so the R&D could be spent on crash safety. Glad to see I’m not the only one thinking like this.

What you point out is a great starting point though! Since you already know what made it bad you can make it better.

depending on the difficulty of swapping a live axle out for independent suspension with a solidly mounted motor in the rear, sure.

They’d also have a range of about 11 miles, having the coefficient of friction of a large brick. :-)

If only we have more EVs that are coupes because I find an Electric SUV to be too much for being in a D.I.N.K couple.

Well, unfortunately we do live in a democracy, so in order to get legislation passed, you need the agreement of people. Including the vast unwashed masses of idiots with poor financial planning.

The problem here is that you end up with sticker shock once a year.

That 2500 series brodozer with 14" wide tires probably exerts a lot less force on the ground than that EV with skinny tires

Bunch of Electric trucks in the pipeline. Guessing the F-150 will be the top selling, but I don’t think it’s out until 2022. Rivian and Cybertruck will beat it to market. There. Also the Lordstown, Bollinger and Canoo.

The original Tesla roadster was 2700lbs and had a 245 mile range. There has been 13 years of battery development since then so that batteries are cheaper with greater energy density so I would expect at least 250 miles of range if not much more.

Right there with you. When I think what I want in the ultimate electric truck, I think “Let’s make it look like a base 70's or 80's Datsun/Mitsubishi truck!”. Americans are going to just love these. At least they gave it an excellent truck name.

I like it, but I want physical controls for pretty much everything.   Particularly heat and air.

the one shot of the interior here looks pretty nice. they kept the tablet low, has some driver gauges, nice seat stitchend, carbon accents... i woukd like more buttons and dials, and vents thougj.

I have a friend with an aging Chevy S-10. I think something like this might be right in their wheelhouse.

So aMiata EV?

The map is *slightly* off... my county is shaded blue, but Duke Energy’s service area stops at my county-line.

‘06/07 MPS (Mazdaspeed 6) is a first gen.

I’ll concede that the 3rd gen is better looking than the 2nd gen, but to my eye it does just look like a generation progress on the 2nd gen car. Where as I think there was a weird jump in styling between the 1st and 2nd gens.

Most OEMs have internal requirements that what the press drives is same spec as what the public gets. They may get a little extra attention / maintenance to make sure they are in spec but that’s it.

I have joined forums for every vehicle I’ve owned... even the boring ones.  Good place to get questions answered or put a question out to the hive mind.

I can’t get past the fact that there’s a Facebook Camry Owners group.
