People will be shocked at how low the price is anyway.

I doubt it, especially if they make the corrections that should’ve been made to the gas tax over the last 30 years at the same time. $0.184/gal corrected for inflation would be more than double that now at $0.386/gal. And it would be a lump sum. Some back of the

Not in my opinion. Wear and tear on the public infrastructure is a function of weight and miles driven. In this case, it puts EV’s on a level playing field. If you want EV’s to cost less, make them lighter.

Miles driven out of state has already been addressed above. Charging by KWH charged might help, but only at public chargers because home chargers are not required to be networked. If I bought an EV and installed a charger it certainly would not be networked without a damn good reason (hypothetical future laws

First, I am firmly against GPS trackers in vehicles for this purpose... or any other purpose really, unless it is the owner placing it there for theft recovery (like I have in my motorcycle).

I am struggling to find a good statistic to support my belief, but I nonetheless believe the percentage of out of state miles

IMO, they should completely overhaul that part of the system and ditch the gas tax entirely. Charge each registering vehicle per mile driven based on weight, regardless of ICE, hybrid, or EV. The only hurdle I see is out-of-state miles where ICE/hybrids would be taxed twice but that’s mostly an issue with big trucks.

The All-Electric Ram 1500 Rev Looks Great and Makes a Ton of Sense

More of a general comment about how laws and regulations tend to start as pet projects by one or more politicians that support their views with cherry-picked data and no context. Not so much a comment about this specific example.

They said the same thing about auto high-beams... and I’ve needed to turn that feature off in every vehicle I’ve owned or driven that had it because it’s garbage. I miss the ability to option out features I don’t want instead of being stuck with the standard features most people seem to want, which this shit will

More shit I don’t need and lower MTBF due to increased component counts. I’d rather just have headlights from 10-15 years ago.

Needs to fit in tight spots and hold 4 adults and a dog?

Two motorcycles... one with a side-car.

My current vehicle gets extremely butt-pucker when taking corners in town during or after a rain or even morning dew. If you touch a manhole cover or road paint with any kind of speed there’s a good chance you’ll just crash.

My vehicle is a Honda CB500X, but since it’s my only vehicle I think it still counts.

hear hear

Nope, I first think of removing their obviously defective genes from the gene pool for the good of humanity.

Context is usually the first victim when a politician decides to quote a study to justify their goal.

Eh, if you take away their license they will either mooch off their friends or keep driving without one and if you put them in prison they are just a drain on tax-payer dollars. But... if you castrate them, either chemically or physically, you have a high tendency to remove most, if not all, of the aggressive urges

lol, no... but I like your style.

I wish assholes like this would be hunted down and chemically castrated.

Eh, I’d still argue that those vehicles that have DRL’s so bright the drivers think their headlights are on a significantly more dangerous than vehicles with headlights that are too bright.

It wouldn’t need extra sensors and motors to automatically dip the lights a bit going over a hill if they would just soften the upper limit of the lights so that they don’t go from zero to high-beam brightness in about 3 inches at 20 feet. It would also be cheaper and have fewer points of failure.

Totally agree. Add that to the pile of newfangled shit that pisses me off.
