I at least appreciate that Neeson was ok making fun of himself on Atlanta:

That’s just what I’d expect an Avril impostor to say!

I think you can split up the conclusion movie of a long series, but not one movie by itself. People hate that.

This is the answer that musical fans don’t understand. There’s always some insinuation of fragile masculinity or gay panic, but it’s just a very specific milieu that doesn’t appeal to most people. It’s like anime or science fiction. Some people ain’t got time for that.

he definitely doesn’t have much range, but he really sings when he weaponizes his persona. he’s great in adventureland but that’s 15 years old already.

Haha right--like too many other musicals Wicked is definitely front-loaded.  If they do divide it into two parts I’ll watch part 2 at home.

It’s also almost definitely going to end after “Defying Gravity,” which is going to be pretty jarring for those who don’t know it’s a two parter.

I bet they’re thinking “Jeopardy: Social Media Fodder!” The pop culture categories get like 20x the views when they post clips on Tiktok etc.

I actually didn’t like Dune 1 until after I saw Dune 2 because it’s not a complete freakin’ story!

That was exactly my thought.  Half the categories are already pop culture (especially if you stretch that term to include sports).  This is basically like saying “Here’s the game without all those annoying topics that feel like school-- you know, stuff that requires effort to learn.”

“Nicer?” I guess I can live with that as long as at some point someone calls her a one eyed fat man and she says “Fill yer hand, you sunofabitch!”

All I’m hearing is that the CW show is going to remain the best Supergirl adaptation for at least another decade.

they could have banged out a ‘special event’ or whatever they call them in 6 months. taking almost 5 years is a total unforced error.

Yeah, no matter what Feige or anyone at Marvel says about this always being part of the plan, to me this will always feel like it was created to capitalize on a popular meme moment that some foolish exec thought would genuinely last long enough to get a whole-ass TV show made.

I’m just hoping they have her do something really wild and creative for the last episode, like fly around shooting CGI lightning.

100% agreed. there was a moment to capitalize on and that was like 2 and a half years ago.

I liked Wong’s girlfriend better. When does she get a series?!?!?!?

That “Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips to feel something, anything” from ITSV is one of my favorite lines ever and it rings in my head any time I see something in a movie or show that I think is trying too hard to be gritty.

I think this will be a hit and lead to egg creams being the trendy drink of choice in the latter half of the decade.
