Exactly. That kid didn’t go to college to end up in a factory job running machines (a job is on the road to being automated anyway) — college is supposed to be a road out of that.

Having worked at Gawker Media and seen what writers — particularly women — are subjected to, you don’t think maybe we should respect someone’s desire to be anonymous when their real identity has no bearing on anything?

I don’t even mean clickable personal stories, I mean more carefully reported ones.   A strong pitch on an interesting topic that someone is hired to write because their professional or personal background gives the special insight.

How much research do website editors do when contacted by non-personal essay authors? (this is genuine curiosity, I am not defending XOJane)
