She doesn’t need defense, I’m not condemning her as a human being, just issuing idle commentary on her decisions the way people in the comments do on pretty much everything a celebrity does. If she supports those charities, it’s a shame that she doesn’t get more credit for it.

It’s definitely lose lose. Many people would question whether Kim was donating the money just to look good and that sucks and is colossally unfair. But the T Swift thing is not comparable — Swift was condemned for not speaking out for Kesha and made an announcement that she was giving her money instead. That’s

Who’s condemning her for not bragging? I’m referring to the fact that raising awareness for a charity by mentioning that you support it is another way of benefiting it.

I was thinking about that actually and it does count to a degree. It’s an important historical tragedy to draw attention to, but it’s not an imminent issue (unless I am severely uninformed about what’s currently happening in Armenia, which is entirely possible).

If that’s true, in this situation, I actually think it’s better when they do. I understand the fact that in some ways it’s nice when people do things for no gratitude, but someone of her stature drawing attention to the need to donate to women’s shelters would be huge.

I’m not usually one of those “say what rich people should do with their money” people, but if that’s true honestly FUCK them for not making supporting charities one of the major prongs of their empire (though, fuck them for that anyway — using your platform for good costs nothing).

Did she really make $80 million+ from that video game? Please say no.

All Work and No Party is a phenomenal slogan for an independent candidate.

certainly not being Jewish and belief in God has nothing to do with it. It’s a voice like the bride and her sister in the video above (something between vocal fry and a long island accent). Usually loud, often high pitched. Frequently accompanied by a certain look (straightened hair, tight pants, usually a shiny top

If they don’t die happy in each other’s arms at the age of 100 surrounded by adorable grand children, I’m going to be so bummed.

Must be a NE thing. I’ve never heard the term BAP used in real life. Jap in my world definitely does not have anything to do with religion. It’s a mentality and a specific way of talking.

I am a Black Jewish American and I’ve heard the term used (and used it myself) across ethnic groups and religions without any hesitation.

Yeah that just came through to me. It honestly wouldn’t occur to me that anyone would think it was a racial slur because I’ve never heard it used that way (other than in books). I feel bad now — won’t use it outside of the Eat Coast I suppose.

In retrospect I assume that’s the case. I thought it was clear because I was pairing it with wasp, but maybe it’s not as universal a term.

Oh I disagree. To me “jap” is even more of a personality label than wasp. But I’m from NYC where it’s a pretty common way of categorizing a very specific type of girl — the religion aspect might hold more weight where Jews (or people with that personality type) are not as common?

Weird for a straight woman to decide that a vine of 2 straight kids is a legendary piece of queer performance art. Well...would be weird if said straight woman wasn’t Lena Dunham.

Really? It’s such a perfect descriptor for a specific kind of person that I can’t imagine dropping it from circulation (just to make sure we’re on the same page, I mean the term Jewish American Princess, not the derogatory slur for Japanese people).

Being hard working certainly doesn’t make you immune to that mentality and no one suggested she was privileged growing up (though she certainly is now). Her response to the dress thing was pitch perfect what a WASP would say to convey disapproval without being outright rude. Hence the OP’s comment.

The mines have contaminated the drinking water.

Oh man, if that’s the case, sign me up for a Martha shopping expedition.
