Isn’t WASP more a mentality and personality type at this point than a reference to someone’s actual religion and background? That’s how I feel about the term jap as well.
Current me is delighted (about this basically being the bag thing, not the idea of hitching a ring to my belt loops).
Um, leaving kids with a babysitter is never acceptable and any parent who does it should have their children taken away from them forever.
Of course every parent has. This wasn’t turning their back though. That’s a lot of stuff going down, if it happened as described.
More than very advanced — almost unbelievable. Not just the dressing alone but that a kid that age could dial 911, have a conversation on the phone with a stranger, be alone struggling with pants waiting for the cops, answer a door bell before her parents could get to the door first, and then coherently explain to the…
Oy, poor Anna. You just got back and they already sent you on another conspiracy vacation?
Not as a tattoo but I do have a ribbon for it that I wear on all of my clothes.
No argument here. I completely agree.
That’s the same trap I got caught in! I never really dismiss comments though, I responded to a few and then just ignored everyone else. If you can’t take the time to read the thread and see this has been hashed out several times before, I’m not taking the time to respond.
I am not pretending it doesn’t exist nor am I saying it should have been neglected as a talking point. I am saying that it wasn’t the focus of the conversation. I’m not weakening my argument because that’s not my damn argument.
That’s surprising. Maybe you don’t pay as much attention to celebrity gossip as I do? The “should have been nominated” conversations were almost exclusively about actors and actresses. It should NOT have been, but those categories were the focus of almost every single post or red carpet interview I saw.
Don’t be deliberately contentious. The Oscar diversity conversation was always about the actors, not the other categories. To it’s detriment, sure, but that’s obviously what I was talking about.
I’ve said this here before and was accused of whitesplaining diversity (which is particularly funny, because I’m not white), but I feel the same way. I was frustrated by the fact that the entire conversation around diversity in Hollywood is about Black artists when there were no Asian, Middle Eastern, or Latino people…
Right?! He was so frustrated and glaring, gesturing with his little brief case. “Dude, you are in the wrong spot MOVE.” Followed by “Fuck this shit, I’m going to go to center stage.”
I agree. And I find it troublesome.
It was particularly tone deaf given that Rock’s entire act focused on the lack of diversity. It was also terribly unoriginal.
What the fuck makes you think I’m white?
My favorite part of this was when Julianne Moore handed over money and then reached out to take a box and the girl scout turned her back on her.
