For better or worse, we do the “Candy Fairy” thing; Halloween night, my son had to separate his haul into stuff he wants to keep and stuff he is willing to give as an offering to the Candy Fairy, who takes the candy and replaces it with a small toy. The offering is usually half or more of the haul, and usually the

It is dogma in our house that Whoppers are the second worst candy.

Except that there’s deception and corruption at every level, from those who sell cars and those who offer loans, to those who sell subprime loan backed bonds. Ultimately that’s actually why the mortgage crisis happened.

pointing out that…the finance department had been trying to reach you about your extended warranty!

I generally am too, but with caveats; standard deductible for individuals at $12,880, deductions for education and childcare and limited mortgage and that’s it. Everything else above that at say 20%. Oh yeah, and wealth tax. Even 1% above $10 million in liquid assets would make a dent.

Light bar, fat tires and maybe a little front fender work and that would be a fun car to Rally.

This is not atypical for most cabbies, who have to rent their car from dispatch or, as in New York, from other medallion holders. But I'm sure that after the math is done, drivers will end up with the short end of the stick.

Yes. But do we mean the same thing?

So…Malta?

Classic “makers and takers” mentality; these people pay no taxes but that’s excused because they have companies that create jobs, and the workers in those jobs pay taxes. But who keeps those companies in business? Consumers - those are the ones creating jobs. Tax paying consumers.

Wait, so you’re saying you don’t flip your egg when frying it?

I used to take my eggs that way t00 - “over medium” which is just a really hard thing to get right most of the time. My preferences have changed when it comes to fried and poached eggs, but I still prefer a medium-done boiled egg.

I’m going to try this - it sounds super easy and like the kind of thing that impresses people who don’t know how easy it is.

Gimme a break. I remember that grilled cheese from a couple of years ago and it looked terrible. His defense is weak; “I was in Tasmania!” is not a reason to make a bad grilled cheese.

Just because it is appreciated by adults doesn’t mean that it isn’t suitable for children. My son loves FR.

Variation on the carnitas idea; ssambap. As someone with family members who are vegetarian and gluten-sensitive, it’s really easy to put together a big meal with meat and non-meat options (shitake mushrooms sub for meat nicely). I’ve made this several times for family gatherings and it’s always a hit.

For me, that’s what makes that ad so cringy; knowing that a bunch of middle-aged white women are going to start saying “Okay, outfit...” right before they go Karen and demand to talk to a manager.

This is HD at its worst, even before the questionable mods. ND.

Poor deer. Not a noble way to go...

There are very few people I have less respect for than Oliva Munn.
