Tests in the US are too lenient, but that’s no reason to get rid of them completely. At the very least a test ensures that someone bothers knowing basic operation and the rules of the road. Whether they follow those rules later is clearly another matter.
Slurpee?
Great info about the NYC street knish. I moved to NYC around that time, and must have had one of the last street knishes served. I remember it well - I was trying everything New York had to offer as it was my first time, and I had no idea what a knish was but figured it must be an important NYC food so I bought one…
You say that jokingly, but I would 100% buy one of these and kit it out as a camper/rolling apartment.
As a “New Yorker” I’m just going to say it; America needs a Chicago style hotdog stand in every city. If Home Depot is the one to bring it to us, so be it.
When you put “light rail” on a surface street, it loses its advantages. And it’s higher cost, not lower.
I feel like you forgot the most important benefit of the stalk; the fact that as you come back from a turn, your hand naturally hits the stalk to turn off the signal. That is even more intuitive than turning the signal on, and one of the things that other systems don’t do nearly as well.
Do they put brisket in the beans? I learned that trick from a local place and it really ups the flavor, and makes them more savory. Also, using a not-sweet BBQ sauce in lieu of ketchup adds flavor and reduces sweetness.
My dad, who became primary cook when my mom moved out, had one solid piece of advice; follow the recipe. I think a lot of dads (especially those who focus on grilling) either try to improv or try to make it look like improv. It’s the same instinct that makes so many dads not ask for directions when they’re lost. But a…
...and a moonroof that closes with a shade! I don’t know how people drive those things with the sun beating down on them from all angles. Also must be really difficult with kids in the backseat.
The worst part is that other car makers are copying Tesla’s bad ideas because they think that they need have those features to be considered a cutting edge EV maker. I might have considered a Mach-E but for the fact that they decided to do that whole massive-touchscreen-that-controls-everything instead of just having…
Made that last night! No mustard though, and a touch of sugar.
I disagree. One lesson I’ve learned from the tech business is that if you’re not paying for updates, updates never come. Take GPS map updates for instance; roads and POI are always changing, but if a GPS maker doesn’t have any incentive to update those maps, they won’t. So a subscription actually makes sense, because…
The design cues are there, but I don’t think the XK8 pulls them off well. When I look at an XK8, all I can see is a Taurus. Or a Sebring. Or a love child of a Taurus and a Sebring. I don’t mean to knock a car you like, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
I think the XK8 is more of an XJS replacement - not a sports car so much as a tourer. Also, Ford era so I assume Grasscatcher2 wouldn’t care for it much.
“I would like to see them bring out a modern version of the e-type”
I like the quad headlights better. Agree about the Ford days of Jag - those were sad. But now I think Jaguar is coming back!
Finally a NPND challenge I feel qualified to judge! I’ve been eyeing the XJS as a project car for a few years, so I know generally what they’re worth. This one has higher mileage than the ones I’ve been looking at, and a higher price by about $1000 to $1500. It also has the lesser engine, though that may be a blessing…
You incarcerate people who are a threat to others until their trial. That’s the way the system should work. Someone who pulls their gun on a kid over a bike... well, really a person who pulls their gun on a kid for any reason, is a threat to everyone. That person needs to be incarcerated until (the unlikely event)…
