At that point you should just add manual saves. Multiple auto-saves kind of defeats the purpose of not allowing manual saves.
I had a similar bug in farcry 5 where I would load onto a hillside that you couldnt walk on and the game thought I was falling so no fast travel.
At the very least, have multiple auto-saves, so you can back out to the menu and load a previous one.
