This is what I was trying to say, well said and thank you. I loved working with the animals, the people not so much. It killed my soul to see people bringing in senior animals when it was pretty obvious they just wanted to avoid the expense or the “hassle” of dealing with the passing.

After years volunteering at our local shelter I finally had to leave for exactly that reason. We were getting in several animals a week which were “surrendered” because of old age or monetary concerns. It seems to be acceptable, at least in this state, to hand your pet over to someone else to deal with. I went home…
