YMMV. I work on cars and home projects all the time and have never heard from my HOA. The next neighborhood over doesn’t have one and their values are down roughly 10-15% of our neighborhoods. They can be a pain, but they have some benefits if you’re into that kind of neighborhood.

Sometimes there isn’t much of a choice, though. They’re easy enough to avoid in more rural towns, but bigger urban areas with lots of sprawl? You’re gonna have a beast of a time finding the house you want that you can afford and otherwise plausibly live with outside of an HOA.

I agree about the bad guy part, but that’s a pretty large issue with Marvel overall. What I think people responded to was the sort of unbridled joy and lack of cynicism in the character. Call it a vibe. And as the father of a 13 year old, there was no denying her joy in watching the movie.

I mean, I guess it might make her seem tougher that she was able to easily run and fight without any support, but most women in her position would have been wearing a sports bra. They clearly wanted to sexualize her character. And yes, Cameron is a hypocrite.
