You got to love the people in here trying to downplay blatant sexism by saying that her first movie was a flop. Guy Richie directed two huge flops in a row, Mam From Uncle and King Arthur and gets to direct Aladdin. Her film being a flop is not the issue.

Jane Austen Book Club is unbelievably underrated. That is a great movie, and anyone who hasn’t already done so, I recommend you watch it with your mom/grandma/etc.

The inspiration for this myth come from Greek and Middle-Eastern sources. The Amazon in South America was named after this myth.
