Even if the grid in the area is incapable, if batteries are placed alongside the chargers like Tesla plans to, it would be possible to do so. The batteries would just charge up while the is excess power and unload when someone is charging.

I agree that to take marketshare you need a better product. But will disagree about the charging part. Sure, faster charging would be nice. And unless we get wireless charging built into roads like they have in Korean OLEV buses or that UK test highway, to completely replace ICE cars that would probably be necessary.

Depends on what you mean by fast, but to answer your question. Some people do loan out their chargers for use on Plugshare. Many do it even for free. Though the fastest home chargers are 80A ones, not as fast as superchargers but will charge you up to full in 4.5 hours from 0.
