I don’t get this at all. A stock 4runner or Wrangler can easily outclass a lifted CRV when Offroad. This seems like a complete waste of money. It would at least be something if it worked. The downtime from repairs (ball joints, drivetrain) means no.

Roads. Our local road quality is terrible. Fuel efficient cars have a hard time staying together. SUV/trucks don’t mind at all. The other problem is the arms race. My neighbors vehicles get bigger my chance of accident survival goes down.

I recall the 90's Honda Minivan had decent/good crash test ratings. The Chrysler’s folded like a house of cards through at least 2002.

The window switch gear is completely different from the American market 4runner.

We made the same decision. The 4runner will do most of what a JK Rubicon can. 4runner has above average reliability. No years of the JK can claim reliability. We Lemon Law’d a different Jeep. The 4runner with all 5 windows down is great.

Did they obliterate the ZF 9spd transmission?

Any chance your factory Jeep contacts are looking for a clean Grand Wagoner? One for you and one for the manufacturer. This would fulfill your promise of going to a good home. Perhaps you hold onto both until Jeep is ready.

Used Awd in the PNW? Older Subaru. They are everywhere. Some small shops specialize in selling old Subaru. I think older Rav4 / CRV prices are out of control in the PNW.

Is the ZF 8spd better than the ZF 9spd?

Anything that shortens or ends the life spoof an Alero is for the good of society. No misuse on your part.

Does the JL Wrangler seem well constructed? Any chance you can do an article on the OEM testing of new products? My previous Jeep Cherokee resulted in a Lemon Law action. I want to like the JL. Money doesn’t grow on trees.

Friend was recently T Boned by newer Ford Explorer while driving the older Chevy Volt. Ford driver never stopped for the red light. The Volt was hit at/near 30mph. Somehow the Ford Driver required a back board. The Volt driver Walked away. Crash standards matter.

On your test drive, did they let you take the Sahara 4wd Auto equipped transfer case Offroad? How does the 4wd Auto compare to Subaru?

There are some rumors the JL Truck might tow up to 5k when properly equipped. I think FCA is trying to avoid the Dakota problem. When Chrysler bought Jeep they killed the XJ Cherokee truck. It was rumored to be stealing Dodge Dakota truck sales.

Does the optional electric roof leak water? How bad is the electric roof wind noise?

Depends. They have very strong resale value. Some versions are considered better than others. Softop offers zero security. Hardtop is better on the road (noise/heat). The Toyota 4runner also has very high resale value. The 4runner is a better vehicle on the road. The decked out Wrangler Rubicon is better on the trail.…

Bad 9spd. Multiple trips to dealer to finally replace the driver rear knuckle. Many many trips to dealer to replace the dash/hvac a couple of times. It finally developed an intermittent coolant leak that could not be identified. Lemon Law’d it.
