I dont know about that, but I bet that women being in frequent posession of assault rifles, wlling and trained to kill might make a few young men think twice.

PMCs arent cost effective and dont do a better job. They are unaccountable, which is nice for a nation that regularly commits war crimes, but they arent even safe to get killed anymore as evidence from all that Benghazi bullshit. The only 2 guys I give a shit about who died in Benghazi were the IT guy who went AFK

Bullshit. While the Civil War was fought withconsripts, WWI was not and certainly wasnt won by conscripts. Time and time again, conscripted units got their asses kicked and were almost completely worthless when faced by motivated, professional troops. While the Germans and Soviets were willing to execute deserters for

Bullshit, WWII was very much won by volunteers. Although there was a draft, the vast majority of people who serve in uniform from Dec 7th, 1941 and Aug 8, 1945 were volunteers.

Bullshit. You comment is one long string of worthless babble that has no basis in reality. The US has engaged in war to serve our national interest, but those conflicts have consumed very little of our military expenditure since (and including) Korea.

Both Iraq and Afghanistan were shitty, useless wars (just like Vietnam, only with thankfully less casualties) and every life lost in both those conflicts regardless of whose team they were on, was as surely wasted as if they were thrown into a meat grinder.

The children of the wealthy and powerful would never be drafted and even if they were to serve, would be protected from combat and/or harm. The egalitarianism of the WWII era in regards to the wealthy and powerful carrying their weight was a casualty of Korea and Vietnam.

Thank you for your comment. I made a similar comment regarding her anecdotal tales of her brother, but was much more of an asshole about it. I am both shamed by your example and hope to learn from it, but failures of military leadership are one of the things that drives me nuts and makes reforming the military one of

If people wont serve of their own free will, they arent needed.

There is already an ‘entrenched warrior class’ in the US and it is one of the things currently ruining the military in this nation. One of the best examples of how military nepotism screws up our military is John McCain, who was the son and grandsom of admirals of the same name. He wasnt serving in uniform as much as

It is a problem because only around 30% of the 18-25 year old population is fit enought to even bother to waste the time and money necessary to train volunteers, even if they want to serve.

If your brother was in a position of authority in the military and tried to get rid of soldiers because of their conditioning, then he was a shitty, ignorant, worthless POS who should have never been put in charge of leading drunks to a liquor store, much less a military formation of any size.

Bullshit. Our government is elected by ‘We the People’ and our Constitution gives us the right and the mechanism to replace anyone in government who does not do our bidding to our satisfaction (except for non-partisan civil service employees who just do what they are told anyhow).

If people arent willing to fight, kill and/or die to prosecute a conflict voluntarily, we have no business being in that conflict. The whole idea of a draft is bullshit and we as a nation shouldnt ever resort to involuntary servitude to either save money or to cover up the incompetence of our military and civilian

That shouldnt be necessary, if you are unwilling to fight for any reason, that should be your choice and you shouldnt have to do anything to exercise your right to avoid either military service or combat.

I agree with you that one of the downsides of volunteer service is that it allows the typical ignorant American to be disconnected from what our government does in our name, but on the flip side as a former combat infantryman, I certainly have no use for anyone who is not 100% committed to the idea of being in uniform

Bullshit. There may have been a time when that was true, but the vast majority of those who serve and especially those who choose combat arms are high school educated, many are college educated and the majority of those who do serve in the combat arms either become ‘lifer pigs’ or go on to college after their term of

Bullshit. The US doesnt need a draft and if people arent willing to volunteer to serve in the military to fight a war, then we as a nation dont need to be fighting that war, period. We have cut down the military numbers, so now more and more of the combat strength of our nation is vested in the Reserves and Nasty

That seems like a rather large and baseless assumption you are making there. Would you care to explain how a debate in New Hampshire ‘harms’ Sen Sanders, or how Sen Sanders feels he has the right to dictate debate venues?

No one F-35's, as a matter of fact. The plane doesnt work, hasnt worked and wont work for a minimum of 10 more years, the fraudulent declaration of IOC by the Marines notwithstanding.
