It’s because the trans CPU is ridiculously strict about the car being at a complete stop before allowing it to shift to park. It literally wants to you stop, have the vehicle not move for 3 seconds, and then put it in park.

From someone who got in and out of these a ridiculous amount of times (I worked for enterprise at an airport location), the biggest issue with the shifter is when you’re trying to put it in park.
