Did the Canadiens’ organization ever come out and say that Patches had requested a trade? I know there were third-party reports that could easily have misconstrued the precise situation, but I don’t recall ever seeing Bergevin or the Molsons say it.

There’s also the possibility of a Tavares-esque middle ground, in which the player genuinely doesn’t want to be traded, but is also unwilling to make the long-term commitment the team needs in order to justify not making a trade.

The irony of Serena partisans playing the race and gender cards to distract from and undermine the historic accomplishment of a black woman should be lost on no one.

I must have missed all the times Lebron reacted to his fifth foul by deciding to berate the ref for the first one being ticky-tack.

This is a pretty reductive take that conveniently omits the (totally deserved) violation assessed when Serena smashed her racket, which was the actual precipitating event of the tirade that resulted in her being assessed a game.

Kai’s claims against Salazar aren’t credible, whereas Salazar’s claims against Kai seem perfectly credible.

Say what you will about President Trump, but an inveterate liar who only breaks that habit in order to ostentatiously advertise his craven corruption he is.

On the other hand, they chose to play football at this school, with that coach, in that culture.

A half-dozen links taking potshots at Bezos for his management of the Post in an article ultimately demonstrating the revealed preference of every Post sportswriter is . . . to stick with his management?

I can think of a few reasons poorly-paid staff of a VC-backed sports blog that flamed out would have less-than-positive feelings about well-paid staff of a different VC-backed sports blog.

Losing the NLDS in 5 games twice in a row under Baker was definitely underachieving, but is also worlds ahead of the pathetic effort this season has been. Martinez is completely out of his depth.

I’ll never really understand why culture and chemistry are as important in baseball, a very individualistic sport, as they are, but how the fuck do you add multiple relievers who tank your culture and chemistry in the course of three years?

That’s a good call, although they at least have the nominal excuse of being the New England Patriots rather than the Boston Patriots.

Seriously—is there another stadium in the entire NFL that can even remotely compete with how inaccessible Levi’s is from downtown of its ostensible city?

The same thing is happening in the political sphere and our trusted media companies are losing scoops to unverified Twitter handles.

So breach of contract is cool as long as you know better than your counterparty?
