UNLESS there is a time jump?

I’m a Caps fan who had absolutely no objection to the original 20 game suspension (although I’ve certainly been frustrated with DoPS’ seeming unwillingness to throw the book at similar hits since then), but yea, that 3x multiplier for repeat offense was about as arbitrary as it gets.

And even if there was some moderate bump, that has to be weighed against the increasing costs of participation, which the IOC was hellbent on making as onerous as possible for no good reason.

I can’t imagine that the additional exposure from being on ESPN (and the coverage that Sportscenter brought in a pre-”everything is on the internet anyway” era) wouldn’t have resulted in a larger second deal.

It will never cease to boggle my mind that Tomlin got off with a mere slap on the wrist for that. The name of the rule says it all: “palpably unfair act.”

At this point, I expect the title will be underwhelming. I struggle to envision anything that would really get me amped up after this drawn out process. As a result, it’s also difficult to imagine a title that would really disappoint, save for “Annihilation” which would just seem like a waste.

The reason Amazon is considering splitting up HQ2 across two different cities is that even looking strictly at established metros, they foresee a lot of difficulty attracting the talent they want in the numbers they need, even in places with an existing tech culture like Pittsburgh and Northern Virginia. I can’t even

The whole pretense of Jeff Bezos’s gross little sweepstakes is that Amazon will bring jobs and prosperity to whatever area they decide to infest. So why isn’t he bringing it to West Virginia, or to Mississippi, or some other place that has the space and the need for them?

like if he had accepted the franchise tag at the begining of this year and then signs a new guaranteed deal next year will that equal his holdout this year plus whatever he makes on his new contract?

But I have trouble putting too much blame on Stan Bowman, who’s been heading the front office since 2009

[M]aybe, just maybe, a certain sense of professionalism is one of the things we’ve given up in our willingness to save a quarter on being driven from place to place by anyone remotely capable of doing the job.

You don’t have a reasonable assumption of privacy in the back of a cab.

Except they’re right.

It’s readily apparent this driver has a 24/7 camera going to record everything that happens in his car, yes? And that he has no compunction about trading on those videos?

That’s why the “athletes and VIPs” were there.

That three year run from 2011-2014 may be worth the decade of noncompetitiveness to come, but it’s not a tradeoff that had to happen.

Fire This Asshole!

Lucky for them, I hear DJ Durkin is now on the market.
