I don’t see the callback. They’re bronze 5 spokes, thats the only similarity.

The wheels are pretty good, but they don’t look OEM to me. They look more like something from a Ray’s or Volk catalog. For an anniversary edition they could have done a callback to the Sport Classic or Turbo-look wheels from the original Boxster, or the 2-piece Speedlines from older Porsches.
Clearly this whole exchange could have been avoided if the seller had only written “NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I HAVE” at the end of the listing.
I think the 124 just wasn’t pretty enough.
Absolutely, ride height too. Though ride height could at least be lowered pretty easily, while bumper backdates range from pretty hard to impossible.
Yikes. Just when I thought they couldn’t add any more fake vents...they go and do it. At least the roof vent is real.
Most tragic for me are the small roadsters that were kept in production far longer than they perhaps should have been. One example is the MGB. A beautiful example of a 60's British roadster:
Maybe not the most exciting for me, but the rarest was an Alfa 8C about 10 years ago. I knew at the time it was one of 500 in the world, but looked it up later and apparently it’s also one of 10 yellow ones in the world.
God, if the first Buick EV is not called Electra, they need to replace their marketing department.
Wow. I know these grills divide opinions, but that looks like absolute crap to me. Zero effort to resolve anything, just a straight line through the grille. The kidneys outline is some weird drooping trapezoid, even less related to the rest of the car than the stock grilles. Also, since the bottom portion is…
To play Devils advocate, how does this compare to an Icon build? Don’t those cost 200k+? This blazer doesn’t have architectural glass or cnc aluminum... Everything, but it sold for half the price. So why is this one so outrageous?
don’t neglect the eyeballs
What controversy? Alpina might have started as a tuner of BMW’s for performance and racing, but that shifted pretty quickly, and for a long time now they’ve been a more luxurious/exclusive alternative to BMW’s performance cars.
Lovely. Year-round daily and track toy here too. I think it was Jason Cammisa who said M cars are a great “one-car solution”
Welcome, fellow E36-er!
It’s funny that certain similar cars from different manufacturers get made in pairs by the same person. Bryan Nesbitt for these two, and Frank Stephenson for the new Mini and Fiat 500.
It’s doubly strange because they’re not new to setting speed records. The SSC Ultimate Aero took the record from Bugatti, until Bugatti took it back again. But that was a Guinness-verified record. Really strange to see how this one unfolded.
yea, whats up with that? for $6k they cant change the cover plate?
I mean, he’s a driver. He doesn’t validate the test equipment, he’s not involved in any other minutia of record-setting except for driving the car. He’s not even employed by SSC - he’s a freelancer. It doesn’t say anything if he’s not throwing himself into the fray. It’d be more suspicious if he came out passionately…
So all 5 of them came here in the same car? Must have been an awkward car ride...
