Pinkertons whining about being portrayed as villains in fiction is just so hilarious to me. Hey, maybe stop still being villains in the modern day first, assholes.

I think you may be missing the point. Monster knows they have no legitimate chance of winning this case if it goes to trial. However, they are banking that the defendant doesn’t have the time and money to challenge them, so they will have no choice but to settle anyway.

Most of this could be avoided if we just strengthened the ability to make someone pay your legal fees and damages if they file a frivolous lawsuit. Then this dude could just hire a team of lawyers, fight for as long as it takes to win the case, and make Monster foot the bill.
