That was the first thing I thought of, too. I’m old enough to remember ushers occasionally strolling the aisles, shushing people as needed. Also, it meant they were available if a complaint needed to be made.

There is a third reason your rephrased resolution has been more successful. The original one is a goal, not an action. Your new resolution states an action that will get you to your goal.

I thought it was very funny. I’m going to phrase my resolutionnns differently by adding extra consonants.

No. I totally disagree with the article on this. Salt preferences are so variable among people. My own preferences vary depending on how I’ve been eating. If I eat out a lot, then salt tolerance goes way up. If I’m mostly cooking at home, salt tolerance goes way down to the point that I cannot eat some dishes because

This year I happened to do a lot of baking that required candied peel. I thought, “Do I want to make that from scratch or not. Nah, I’ll just buy it. “But your enthusiasm has convinced me otherwise. I might actually try it. If I’m not mistaken, it keeps quite well.

Salaries are mostly a function of supply and demand. Example: Great Recession 2008 - how many people had any bargaining power at all when so many people were out of work? On the other hand, when unemployment rates are low, skilled workers are in greater demand and can often negotiate a better salary going in. But most

I think that’s right. For the last 30 years I’ve eaten mostly whole food plant-based, but this year I’ve gone all omni -Betty Crocker-classics. My usually excellent blood pressure is up, too. Maybe I need to stop reading the news.

I used to do that with my pressure cooker but the white comes out a little rubbery. Then I read something that indicated it was the steaming not the pressure that was the key. So, now, I just steam them. Works just as well for me.

Agree with the egg method. Steaming them and not adding the steamer basket until the water is boiling has been the most consistent method for an easy peel that I’ve found.

Wow, that takes me back. I remember when the Monte Cristo was ubiquitous. But I don’t think I’ve seen it on a menu in - 25 or 30 years? Maybe I have been blind to it, because I wouldn’t have thought so many young people would even know what they are. Anyway, a casserole seems like a valid and easy way to serve it -

Ha. I was just wondering the same thing.

I think this might have happened only once with USPS for me.

When I was working and a manager, my email load was in the hundreds per day. When I read this: “Of course, now your boss will be getting a bunch of extra emails, but that’s their job.” I screamed (in my head) No, no, no, no, no!

It is not the manager’s job. That is why the manager hired you. Do not bring your manager

Oh, thanks for that. Ever since I binge-watched the GBBO, I’ve wanted to try golden syrup but found the price off-putting. World Market it is.

Some white sugar is made with sugar cane and some is made with sugar beets. I think that is the difference. For instance, C&H is refined cane sugar. Sugar from beets is more common in some states than in others. Often cane sugar is considered to be superior to beet sugar.

The cane sugar you are thinking of is usually

Good point. Because of mobility issues, the last decade of my dad’s life was spent in front of the TV. We liked several of the same programs, and the best conversations we had during those later years was simply about them.

This might skew a little (OK, a lot) older than your average reader might be interested in, but I see very few articles about withdrawal strategies in retirement and also how to resist over-spending in the early years.

Slightly off-topic, but was Grant quoted correctly? I had assumed she would use a ghost writer, and given that quote, she really better. She doesn’t seem to know the difference between “recant” and “recount.” Although if she really meant “recant” that will be some crazy book.

Yes!
