It wasn’t headlamp height that was the restriction in this case. It was the fact that US cars were required to use DOT approved sealed beam headlamps. It was easiest for them to adapt the single round sealed beam headlamps. Dual rectangular sealed beam headlamps were newly approved in late 1974 for the 1975 model year…
