That design was diluted to become the Taurus.

It was considered intermediate or mid-sized in it’s day, not full-sized. Full-sized was Caprice sized.

It could also be the person that would have bought a Toyota FJ if they still made it.

A 1963 Corvette would look like shit without pop-up headlights.

Cutlass Vista Cruiser X complete with panoramic roof glass.

The Corolla name has no image to live up having been aways a budget priced compact sedan, hatchback or wagon. So it really doesn’t matter if it’s called Corolla or not. It’s not the same as the legendary image of the Mustang orginally being only a sporty two-door coupe or convertible.

Yeah the Matrix was originally Corolla Matrix and I had one. So I don’t understand the fuss over putting the Corolla name on something not a sedan or traditional wagon. It’s not like the name has to live up to an original legendary image like the Mustang name offends on the Mach-E.

I had a 1992 Firebird brand new and more recently a 1991 Ford Probe LX and I loved those pop up lamps so much! The Probe used motors and retractors from an RX7. As old as the vehicle was the link arm bushings would disintegrate and replacements were impossible to find. Just a little ingenuity and I found a way to fix

The lights are on and up in the dark, so why does it matter if they ruin the cars lines if you can’t see them. They are not intended to be up during the day. But if someone drives with the lights on and up during the day it’s really not offensive.

We should already have stopped reading the stuff here because of how Kinja takes so long to load to read and reply to comments. It used to be a so much better site. And this gray and ungray comment shit it just fucking ridiculous.

No surprise to see it go. It was a slow selling sedan in a time when everyone is buying SUVs. The historic Continental name dies unless it can be reconfigured into some sort of SUV thing hat people will buy. It will probably languish in the vault like Thunderbird now.

No one ever said that about different model series BMW and Mercedes models looking alike when they did. I do understand that traditionally every domestic model had a more unique look but still if you go back to 1977, the Continental Mark V, Lincoln Continental and Lincoln Versailles all had the same grille designs and

Nothing wrong with the platform sharing. If there was only Lincoln they would have been designed the same way. They optimize platform designs now anyways for cost vs profitabilty no matter what brand. They might use some premium parts on higher end versions. So Lincoln has to make a statement with body and interior

It’s already been proven the Mark LT nor the Blackwood sold for Lincoln. Escalade EXT did nothing for Cadillac. It's all about premuim versions of Ford, GMC, Chevy and Ram trucks.

Long ago GM should have moved the Cadillac brand to the Saturn dealerships they cancelled. Cadillac has no business being in a dealership with any other brand, especially low end brands.

There really wasn't any such thing as Euro styling for these old Fords as they were heavily influenced by American Ford designs.

There is no sense in having an incrimentally sized model when the Explorer is slightly larger but gets virtually the same fuel mileage. Want two row seats? Leave out the extra row for more cargo room.

GM attempted with the Envoy XUV

This generation Continental was originally a Thunderbird design.

I don't care what anyone thinks. I like wood sided wagons.
