As a long-time MMO player (and developer), I’m simply amazed at how many mistakes they’re making with this game. Did anyone on the team ever make an MMO before?

Years ago I did the VFX for a fairly popular multiplayer shooter. I was there about two years, and did all of the effects in it. I left a few weeks before it shipped after having delayed my move to my new job by a month or so, so that all of the effects for the game would be done.
When the game shipped, a producer took…
“Dailey’s explanation also puts blame on the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, forcing the studio to adopt work from home strategies, for not being able to meet expectations.”
I mean, my studio’s been working remotely since mid-March, and we’re meeting (if not beating) our milestones.
Years ago, I worked on a large-scale MMO you’ve heard of. One of the QA guys had the logo for the game tattooed on his leg.
Then, about six months later, we went through a small round of layoffs (as you do, in the game industry). He was one of those who were laid off.
When the game shipped about a year after that, it…
When I was younger, I was on a group trip to Colorado. We hiked up Mt. Elbert, and at the top I started talking to a guy who was there with a different group. At some point, he mentioned that he’d lived in Singapore for a while. I said, “Hey, I know someone from Singapore...”
It turned out we’d both dated the same…
It’s not like animating the wheels would’ve taken that much effort, anyway. It’s a complex controller solution, but not too difficult. The animators on my project would take it as an interesting challenge.
Absolutely. I try to avoid single-purpose kitchen items, but this thing does exactly what it should do. I need to get a new one- mine was broken in a move, and I miss it every time I buy avocados.

Several years ago I was involved with a startup with all of its employees working from home... but scattered all over the planet. About a month after we incorporated, we organized an in-person meeting in LA. For that purpose, we rented a very nice beachfront home for the week through AirBnB.
Two days before we all…
The game that I don’t want to end is Red Dead Redemption 2, which makes all of the online updates Rockstar keeps releasing just that much more painful.
The only correct way to eat peanut butter M&Ms is frozen, as nature intended.
Calling it right now- there’s no way in hell Trump doesn’t wear adult diapers underneath those huge suits.
I work from home, so I don’t get nearly as much exercise as I should. I started doing burpees last month. At this point, I’m up to 10 every hour, and did 80 yesterday. I also got a blister on my toe from the carpet.
I started this last month, actually. I work from home, and as such have a real tendency to not get *any* exercise. So I downloaded an hourly reminder app, and now I get up every hour and do ten burpees. They’ve gotten easier over the last couple of weeks, but I haven’t noticed any other results just yet.
I had to get rid of my beloved Element to get a vehicle which could tow the popup camper my wife wanted. I miss that thing every day- easily the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It was ten years old when I sold it, and I’d intended to drive it for at least another ten years.
So will the esteemed governor ban humans from driving when one is responsible for the next casualty, as well?
When I bought my truck about three years ago, I was offered about $3000 off the price if I financed through the dealer (at a pretty high interest rate). I took it, then immediately refinanced it through my credit union (which I’d already pre-arranged before I’d even gone car shopping). End result: a low interest rate…
Now imagine how weird it is to have moved halfway across the country to work for Avalanche, laid off a year later, then *not* be hired back on when the studio starts working on Disney games 9 months later.
Now imagine being an employee who just, a year before, moved halfway across the country to work on that game... yeah, I’m a little bitter.
Same here.
I think a more transparent pricing structure is better for *everyone*.
