On the same note you cant just remove the PC's other functionality because you still need a PC to do work(this is of course assuming you do work). When talking cost you have to factor in the fact that the PC can do more, it simply cant be removed from the equation.

Well considering it has no background........ regardless 2.5 games do a fairly good job of getting the environment involved, see Donkey Kong Country Returns and im sure Oddworld New N Tasty (to a lesser extent) when it comes out.
I think its the style that gives the vibe. This just reminded me how I hated that game and never completed it.
