Wasn’t particularly surprised by much this year. Most of the things that were going to be ok were ok. Most of the things I expected to be good were good. And the things that weren’t weren’t very far from expectations.

Most annoying to me is how sensitive the lock screen customization is to open by accident.
For one - that 30% isn’t a tax. Company’s are welcome to come up with their own phones and infrastructure to make money off their users, but if they want to use Apple’s, Google’s, Sony’s, Microsoft’s, etc then it costs money. It’s not free.
Because it controls the lights & the roomba (and for me it also controls some of the TVs, a few sets of blinds, and a few other odds & ends, composes my 6 room audio setup & seamlessly plays spotify, apple music, podcasts, and audiobooks).
If you want to come and do all of those things for me - go ahead & record me.…
If they want to record everything I say, more power to them but it’s not going to be all that exciting for them.
The aura for me starts off as a growing blindspot in my central vision. I’ll notice it when words begin to disappear off the screen. The brain tries to fill in the holes with the surrounding background. The holes grow larger and eventually become kind of sparkly that takes over most of the central vision, leaving only…
Yeah, I’m glad I don’t get aura. I just get pain. Tried all sorts of things for years and finally started getting relief a few years ago with CGRP meds - the monoclonal antibodies mentioned in the linked article about new treatments. I’m one of those unlucky 1-2% who get 15 or more per month. My monthly shot of…
Most of what was wrong with Crystal Skull was with Mutt. Even putting aside my dislike for Shia Leboeuf, his character didn’t make the movie better, and the ‘ow my balls’ scene was just cringey as hell.
He’s had a significant hand in the design choices and engineering in SpaceX, and on top of that he kept them intact and well-financed (something which usually sank space startups before him).
that’s fair but they’re saying that some of the safeguards sometimes don’t work, which could cause injury even for a skilled, experienced badass brimming with common sense.
These things look like something an archeologist would unearth in the first scene of a movie where a bunch of high school kids get killed off one by one.
“Dark energy” is just a placeholder name for something we simply don’t understand. We don’t have any answers yet.
...there’s only about a one-in-a-million chance that the longstanding discrepancy in the Hubble constant measurements is merely a fluke.
Type Ia Supernovas are the end of a star’s life, but not a regular star. The exploding star in a Type Ia is a white dwarf that’s part of a binary star system. The white dwarf “vampires” the mass from the other star, until the point where the mass is so great (approaching 1.44x the mass of the sun) that they collapse…
I’ll attribute it to the lack of Muslim leads in general, but the idea that we’ll have a Muslim main character shown praying who isn’t a terrorist feels like a breath of fresh air.
It is in no way an overreaction! It’s awesome!!! i am doing a happy dance every time I see this picture. Granted, it makes my family look at me funny, but I am still excited. ;-)
It is not an overreaction. That is a very exciting picture of 18 dots and I’m not being the least bit sarcastic.
It’s like “I’d like to be a fly on the wall, a million miles from Earth.”
Don’t care if it’s an overreaction this progression is so exciting to see!
Side note, on every rewatch of Clone Wars, I really am floored by how good it is. They really were just super willing to delve into nuanced concepts that few kids shows are willing to touch.
