As I said elsewhere, I’m partially responsible for the iDrive - I gave a few lectures about UX and donated the Strategic Commander that was examined and ideas behind it went into the prototype.

I’ve heard this rumor as well, and I’m sorry to hear it. I helped bring this into the US, and I can’t say I’m glad to see it go.

Daaaamn right. In my day, when we got parts from Japan, we couldn’t overnight them! Had to wait weeks! Months, even! 

Comes in really handy when parallel parking in tight conditions, though. I can get my rear bumper within half an inch of the other guy without touching him. I really appreciate that. 

I’m exaggerating for humor’s sake, yes. But it was worrrrth it.

Two grand, and it drives. NP. In good shape, with someone who’s done their best to take care of it over the years, very NP. Probe’s not a fast car, but it’s reasonably agile, even better.

*waves cane* In my day, AWD on a car was a 8 grand package on a 16 grand car and that’s how we liked it!

Dad concepted it. I assisted here and there. For about ten years, we had a hand in most Mercedes vehicles, but it, the Maybach and the Pacifica (which evolved from the same pitch-line) were the ones we had the most hands in. Man, I miss the Celica GT-Four. 

I _wanted_ a compact the last two times I had to rent. I wound up with a Charger and a Mustang.

I’m going to make a minimal effort suggestion. You take this car, it looks safari’d from the manufacturer. And you can find a LOT more of them than AMC Eagles. It’s drivable, it’s got most safety features, and if you feel like it, you can bolt on a LOT of performance - and even some more style.

I really envy you. You’re a lucky person. 

I still want to know what Mitch McConnell was doing there that day.
