Her's the thing: There are no shortages. No one in my area is dying from lack of blood. Moreover, I apparently became eligible just last year because there was some traction on these discriminatory bans. So really, I'm killing people now for not donating to an organization for one year that has no shortage of…
Well if you read above you would see it's a moot point, as I might not even be eligible. So while the stance might not make sense to you- seriously, I get it and totally your right to feel that way!- it effects me directly as a member of the Queer community, and as someone who dates other members of the queer…
Wow. It's wild how much variation there used to be! I agree, 2005 on basically looks shiny, and a little more uniform and less imaginative than before.
Also, I like pubic hair on women, especially in pictures like this! It seems way more intimate to me for some reason. Since I was born in the 80s I always thought…
Yeah, I was still speaking in the tone of the article :P
I can see both sides, and I did give blood as a teen. But I just don't agree.
ETA: Also, it's kind of a moot point because apparently due to my relationship I did not become eligible to donate until May of 2013. Assuming my boyfriend didn't have anymore sex with men that he didn't tell me about.
Sorry, just don't agree. I would agree if I didn't also take action by writing to the Blood Services, Evidently it has worked a little, since as another posted has indicated above they have recently changed the ban from indefinite to five years.
Apparently as of last year it is down from indefinite to five years!
So that is... something? I guess? Maybe it means all our broo-ha-haing is doing something.
So hetero presenting bisexual men are A-okay!
Where have I heard that before? ;)
Haha.
Huh. I didn't realize we had that requirement too! I think I would be okay since my partner has only been with women for the past five years- as far as I know!
But I still won't due to their stance on MSM donating.
Because "Too bad I have a rare blood type you won't get now, FDA?" Just seemed awkward.
My apologies.
High five for the O blood!
It's the same in Canada and I have not donated blood because of it. I have also written letters explaining my stance.
Also, huh. I guess by the requirement you mentioned I wouldn't be eligible in the US, since my partner is MSM. Too bad I have a rare blood type you won't get now, Red Cross. *shrugs.*
The fun in if you have a gun and the pheasant doesn't it you then get to eat the pheasant. Because eating is fun!
Because the manufacturer has the ability to include a "PSA" encouraging people to be cognizant? Perfect world, no. But more logistically doable than contacting all of the retailers.
Thank you.
Seriously. How is this even something more than one person would ask?
He isn't saying get rid of the shirt. Just be cognizant of avoiding the pairing, Jeee-zus.
He isn't the writer we want, but he is the writer we need!
(Kidding, I want you here Mark!)
Yep! That is what I found in my research. Homosexual households are much more egalitarian in the breadkdown of chores, and if they are not they are much more vocal about explaining why the imbalance has been chosen. This is great for children to see and internalize.
I wrote a paper in my undergrad about this exact phenomenon. A socioligist in the US studied multiple same sex couples with children, and multiple opposite sex couples with children and came to the same conclusion. The children of the homosexual couples were excellently adjusted academically and emotionally, and…
I never claimed objectivity. But I didn't state a like our dislike of hair either. How I feel about hair on a "nasty" scale is a personal opinion that is very much informed by the social conditioning we are all subject to. That is the point I think the prof is trying to make with this.
